I'm very excited to announce my first wargame ruleset is out now! :D
Grab it now at: https://www.wargamevault.com/product/494929/Bronze-Shield-Silver-Coin-Ancient-Greek-Mercenary-Skirmish-Wargaming?affiliate_id=3964526
Create your own mercenary captain, build a warband of about 10 soldiers, and undertake campaigns alongside or against your friends. Bronze Shield, Silver Coin is an ancients wargame you can play with just a couple of sprues of models. Battles shift suddenly as you backstab your friends and get their soldiers to betray them, just like the ancient world! The perfect skirmish game for those new to ancients wargaming or for using your existing models in a new adventure.

Original Message:
Hi! Well after years of saying I would never write a game, I'm writing a game!
As a newcomer to Ancients systems I was looking for a skirmish game to get me going and didn't find anything that was really what I was looking for - a very small model count (~10 per side) with RPG elements and solo/campaign modes. Something in the mode of Frostgrave. I recently came across Eric Farrington's Homer's Heroes which actually would have fit the bill but I had already started on Bronze Shield Silver Coin by then, and imo they are quite different enough to enjoy both.
Here's a blurb about the game:
In Bronze Shield Silver Coin, you take on the role of a Greek mercenary captain in the Classical era, the time of legendary battles and heroes. Choose your equipment and customize your character with powerful abilities that can turn the tide of battle. Will you be a clever Athenian tactician or a hulking Spartan warrior?
Gather your warband, recruit stalwart companions, then venture forth to fight in scenarios based on the oftentimes dirty history of spears-for-hire in the ancient world. The rules are easy to learn but offer deep tactical choices. Games play quick and brutal to briskly move forward a campaign with friends. Mechanics emphasize surprises, shifting loyalties, and memorable moments. Your warband’s loyalty and courage will be undermined by the enemy and influenced by your captain’s fortune.
Whether playing solo adventures, cooperating with friends, or clashing with rivals, Bronze Shield Silver Coin puts you in the mercenary captain’s sandals. Command your forces wisely and write your name in the annals of history! The ancient world awaits - will you seize the glory?
I'll be sharing updates on hobbying, writing, and playtesting here and would love the thoughts and feedback of this awesome community.
You can find a quickstart version of the rules at our Discord server: https://discord.gg/B5eewZCSjH
And just for some hobby fun, here are four characters I've painted up, they are sculpts from Footsore

Looking good! 👍

Very interesting idea. Looks like a ton of fun.

I just spent longer than it took Jason to find the Golden Fleece, trying to get to 'quick start'! Got there and the rules disappeared, not very impressive!
>:(
-
Sounds interesting. Just don't make sarissa an equipment option!

Oh no! Thank you for letting me know, I assume it was tough to find in the Discord's list of channels? I can make that more obvious for sure. I'm not sure about the disappearing, that sounds like a Google Docs issue. I'll try PMing you a PDF here in the forum.

I have just read a very favourable review of this ruleset at the current WS&S-magazine. Will take some time these days to take a deeper look if it is something for me :)
