A two day visit by Zingara (aka Gregor) allowed us some gaming time.
We managed:-
Three AK47 games (With his new army),
A game of Sea-Strike (wearing a AK47 mask),
A Galactic Heroes game and
SEVEN games of Waddington's Battle of the Little Bighorn.
Oh and a far amount of chatting. :D
Tension between Zumri & the new upstart N'Tumne have been rising.
This will lead to three days of fighting over the border townships of Mtumbee.
667 = Overview of the battlefield. Soon it will not be so quiet.
668 & 669 = Recoiless Rifles (RR). As they are cheap, light & air transportable my Airforce
have quite a few. :D These became a weapon Gregor feared.
670,680,681,675, 679. My dread were his Shermans. If the Political Flowchart went his way
he could end up with SEVEN!!! :o
But it turned out my hordes of RRs won the contest (plus he never
got seven.) They went up like hayricks on a dry day!

The three days of battling were very bloody.
677=Gregor learnt the hard way, staying too long in your trucks on a busy battlefield...BAD IDEA.
683=At least one N'Tumne Tanker shows skill & hides behind an overturned lorry.
688=But the rest charge on. Into the valley of Death????
684,685,686 = Not the valley of Death, but the Town of Terror. Trying hard to get through
a choke point they are met by Zumri armour. Hard pounding by both sides.
but the road is now blocked & that is in Zumri's favour.
689= more losses.
690= By the third battle Gregor is beginning to get the hang of his new army & realizes
the weakness of my 'Jackals' (all those fast moving, hard hitting RR carrying jeeps)...
No flipping defensive armour!!!! :o :-[
Lots of action & enjoyment was had. AK47 is a fun game.

Oops, proper post follows. :D

We also added an AK47 theme to a game of Seas-Strike ('Modern' naval).
It is a venerable game from WRG, but good fun. It has a touch of 'Mission Impossible'
as players draw a Mission, which also sets their budget. It is then up to you to spend it wisely.
714=The set up
715 = Tension rises at the disputed 'border', between N'Tumne (playing in Red) and the noble
Confederate States Navy of Zumri (playing in Portsmouth Blue)
My only Ship, The Frigate CSS Fratton Park, I must admit that it was helped by six submarines,
half a dozen hydrofoil MTBs and three strike aircraft, managed to not only achieve my objective, rescue the
deposed President of N'Tumne from under Gregor's nose, but frustrate his objective by...
sinking his entire fleet:-
The General Purpose Frigate PLF Cutswetpoo, (£18million)
The Anti-Air Frigate PLF Impala (£17million)
The Helecopter Destroyer PLF Jam Jam Duree (£28million) &
The Submarine PLF Gorri (£6million)
Apologizes to Gregor if I mis-spelt any of those.
I, no surprise, did enjoy it & will add future Sea-Strike games to our ongoing AK47 Campaign.

Pete gave me some education in the AK47 rules. Three good games over the same terrain. The beauty of the system is that all three games were totally different. You play with the hand you are dealt (and the wily Peter managed his hand somewhat better than I did). The use of objectives, the defender choosing what table edge the attacker enters from and randomised initial availability and reinforcements means the battle develops in interesting ways.
First picture - blood bath as the jeep mounted recoilless rifles render hor's d'combat an armour formation and supporting armour from another group. It took combined armour, infantry and armour with some good rolling to take them out.
Second Picture - after some initial set backs to supporting troops Zumri infantry go on the offensive

I arrived for a visit in time to see Zingara's flagship Cutswetpoo go to the bottom....

Ak47 and seastrike = classics.

Ak47 and seastrike = classics./quote]
I agree. :)

Lovely piccies! :D What KO'ed those M48s?
-
Some old-time goodies, AK47 and Sea-Strike (definately classics!).
But, Waddington's Battle of the Little Bighorn?!!! Wow! I remember having that as a kid.

Gregors Shermans, in AK47 a tank is a...tank, is a tank. WE take the view that what matters more is the determination (dice throw) of the troops, than the equipment.
It also means that it does not matter what models you use. For my first AK47 army the nice owner of Peter Pig miniatures swapped out the T55s from the army pack
for T34-85s, just cuz I like the T34s :D

Yup I had THAT copy as a kid, played it a lot after exams, when we were allowed to bring in games.
I saw an interesting article (long time ago) where the wargamer swapped out the 40mm(?) figures
for little dioramas using Britania miniatures. Look great. That is on my (very long) list of projects to do. :D

Since has.been was kind enough to do me up an AK47 force I ended up making up an opposing force. I had forgotten how small 15mm were - you sure these are not 10mm was my first reaction. (Deteriorating eyesight meant I got out of 15mm a number of years ago - getting a lot of 1/72 plastic instead). Getting 3 pre painted tanks and enough bases for 50 groups - the 14 stands of militia that you may get only turn up about 20% of the time :-(.
Some pictures - what happens when T55s appear in your rear on the board edge you came in on - 2 rounds of shooting and no more mortars. The militia that seem reluctant to take part in any battles.

Well done Gregor.
I see that Maine's fight for independence from N'Tumne has begun. >:D
I look forward to seeing them 'in the flesh' sometime in 2024.
