Title: 28mm Wild animals
Post by: dooger on 13 November 2009, 01:49:12 PM
I've looked at a few sites and wonder what the preferred source (UK hopefully) of African animals is? I've already placed a huge order with Foundry (fulfilled in 2 days - they are great!)....other than them - any recommendations (cheap as possible - I'll keep my eye out for plastics obviously but am not hopeful!)?
Thanks

If cheap is what you are looking for I recommend MegaMinis ebay store (you can get at it from
www.megaminis.com

They stock a lot of animal figures (I remember Matakishis site showing few of them being used for his Tarzan and Alien Abduction stuff If memory serves).

They are not UK based but I have always found their service, shipping time and shipping costs from the US to Ireland to be excellent.

Ral Partha have some very nice African animals, but not so easy to come by in the UK. :?
North Star as Svennn has said would be ideal.

I don't do ebay and can't understand why these folks don't have their own web store.

They have lots of kewl stuff that has gotten my attention but every time I see ebay store... I just move along.

Sorry to contradict you old boy, but they are fairly easy to get hold of from Ral Partha Europe:

Unless that's not the full range?

Good, quick service from them too - recommended for populating the veldt!

RLBPS sell/produce the Dazed line of animals and such: http://www.rlbps.com/RLBPdazed.htm

I have two of their sabre-toothed tigers and two of their mastiff dogs; they're nice miniatures, but not as detailed as some. They do a good range of African & Asian beasties, though, plus prehistoric mammals, dinos, and North American critters.

I have a bunch of the old HLBS dinosaurs; based on the quality of those, the now-North Star animals are probably very nice indeed. Prices seem about the same, North Star vs Dazed.
