Title: Little Fokker
Post by: Fitz on December 13, 2023, 02:24:31 AM
I got distracted from what I was supposed to be doing, and instead of doing that, I built this little Fokker D-VII in Blender at 1:144 scale.

The struts and things are far too thick for scale, but that's because it's a model intended for tabletop wargaming, and the thick struts will make it much sturdier, as well as being easier to print.

I've given it a 3mm socket underneath for mounting on a flight stand. It will go up online once I've done a test print or two to make sure that it does actually print well.

I've completed my first FDM test prints, and the model prints fine. I just need to find the ideal orientation now, and do a little bit of fine-tuning for my own machine.

Here's another 1:144 Fokker, but one with 50% more wings.

This model isn't all my own work. I took one of Captain Ahab's low-detail models (intended for micro-scale printing) and jazzed it up a bit with some more detail and what-not.

Great work, though I'm not sure of the maths with calling it...

...since the DVII was categorized as a sesquiplane - and they both have that mini-wing in the landing gear to muck with the exact percentages... ;)

I'm thinking the "number" of wings increased by a third, but the area of the wings may actually be less, you're gonna make me look aren't you?!?!?! ;D
