Post by: Ultravanillasmurf on 31 December 2023, 10:54:38 AM
There are a large number of manufacturers of humanoid robots, but I am looking for some R2 type 'droids.

Now I know about the Ainsty ones:

There are always the Imperial Assault and Legion figures. They don't get more R2 like than that :)

GZG games do some, but it looks like they're 15mm and smaller

It's also worth going on to Shapeways and Etsy and seeing what they have.

Star Wars droid are quite a popular subject on Shapeways - https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace?type=product&q=droid

I just ordered a pack of these from Ebay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175525242128?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=zuyjfet5ree&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=0ZbLLKaSQHS&var=474856910507&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Haven't got them yet so can't comment on the quality, but for three quid for five, I reckon I can put up with a certain degree of shonk.

Good find. I think the seller is HeadBunnyGames and I've bought stuff from them via Etsy, so the quality should be good.

I got these they were rubbish. The paint jobs make them look good.

I think most star wars miniatures are much larger in scale than normal figures.

Sorry to hear that, mine arrived this morning and look pretty decent. Some little clean up required, but on the whole I'm well satisfied with them.

Finally got some. The print layering is very obvious with the human figures and their faces lack definition. That said, they painted up ok with contrast paints. 5 figures for less than £3 and the robots are better than the human figures.
