Hi looking to get into Napoleonic skirmishing and want to try and accurately represent a company down to a small unit of men how was British company structured from the smallest squad to the full company thank you
-
Just off the top of my head.... I think it was about 20 -22 men in a section and 4 sections to a company.... "platoons" didn't exist yet as a rigid structure they were a flexible thing when it came to making up a firing line.

Thank you

orm I found this:

Worth reading the whole thing.

vodkafan, many thanks for that reference. Truly fascinating, and what a mountain of work by the researcher.

You are welcome Fred, and I agree a great piece of research. What surprised me was that some Battalions were not different sizes because of losses; some had smaller Establishments to begin with. Very interesting.

They're really interesting and give a great breakdown of tactics at brigade, battalion, company and section level. I warn you though, you will buy toys.

I'm sorry yes you are right. I have control of myself now. My artillery need some limbers and I could do with some ADCs for that last set of rules I bought.....
