Title: Need some help finding Polish and German early war uniforms and information.
Post by: Doc Twilight on 15 November 2009, 06:23:04 PM: I'm trying to find accessible sources handling early war uniforms as references for a modeling/sculpting project that involves the "Early War" period, beginning with German and Polish Armies in 1939.

Most of the sources I've found seem to be more interested in colors – which is fine – but I'm really looking for references so that someone could actually sculpt appropriate figures in appropriate uniforms rather than tables that tell someone how to paint said figures.

I've seen photos here and there, and I have a general idea what these look like, but I'd really like a more comprehensive resource.

For the time being, I'm searching for German uniforms, 1939-1941, and Polish uniforms for the 1939 campaign. If possible, being worn by someone. (ie: I got a link on TMP with photos of equipment, but the equipment is spread out on a table, and not worn by anyone, so not much help to a sculptor.)

Can anyone help?

there is a german army regulation book with colour plates, but it's too long ago I read it.
don't know about polish uniforms though

Originally propoganda prints but there may be some useful material in there.

There were a couple of reprints done a few years ago which are not terribly expensive :

They used to have the reprints in our local library but I haven't seen them for a few years.
