Title: Otherworld Miniatures
Post by: hubbabubba on 10 January 2024, 01:04:50 PM
Just a heads up.

Otherworld's owner said in December 2023 that he plans to wrap up business in 2024.

He mentioned plans to sell on some of the range, and possibly keep a smaller project on the go as a hobby, but from what he said he basically wants to retire.

So if there's anything you've been wanting, get it while it's hot...

Good shout as there’s no guarantee that everything will end up with one company or that it will all continue to be available.

If you’re after a bunch of Otherworld stuff, it’s worth trying to persuade the owner - Richard - to sell you a 2024 voucher to give you more bang for your buck/pound/euro. If he will, I’d recommend spending it all at once.

Damn, I really like their stuff. Not sure what I really need right now, but I certainly was planning to get some more at some point. Need to give it some serious thought.

Thanks for posting the news.

Looks like the downsizing has already begun, several of the pieces I just checked on are showing as "Out of Stock" already.

to sell you a 2024 voucher to give you more bang for your buck/pound/euro.

What is a 2024 voucher and why does it give you more bang?

Otherworld have previously offered vouchers which are worth more than the face value. For example, a bronze voucher costing £50 but entitling you to £65’s worth of miniatures. They are only valid for the year they are purchased in though. So, the 2023 voucher had to be spent in that year.

Oh crap. They are one of my favourite producers. I've not bought from them in a long time though. I must get some of the wilderness encounters they have.

After scratching my head and trying to think of what things Future Me might want, I bought a bunch of stuff. No doubt I failed to buy the one precise thing I'll desperately need in 18 months time, but oh well.

And I got a free Otherworld Miniatures pencil, which was nice. They've never given me one of those before.

This made me finally order those pack mules I've always promissed myself (and then some more stuff, obviously).

Sad to see them close shop; some of the nicest miniatures out there...
