Now that the Perrys have updated their information on their new Duchy of Warsaw plastic infantry it’s time to address the elephant in the room: Will these be suitable to use as Vistula Legion in the Peninsular War and elsewhere? Unfortunately I don’t know enough about the uniform specifics, and the Perrys have not given any pointers either.

I think they have at least stated that they will do metal Vistula Legion figures.
-
Thanks! I had hoped the plastics would do the trick, at least with an upgrade pack.
-
I'm no expert but looking at Google the distinctive shako badge is very different between the Vistula Legion and the GDW. I doubt very much if there will be an "upgrade pack" sold separately.

Unfortunately, the grand duchy of warsaw box cannot be used for the Vistula legion. The latter wore the French-style tschako and the former the tschapka shown here.
The tschapka is also of Polish origin.

Tangential, but a fun fact.
"Czapka" in polish just means "a hat". And that's any hat - winter, knitted, baseball cap, etc. (Apart for brimmed hats, those are called "kapelusz").
The hat that Polish soldiers wore around the Napoleonic era is called "Rogatywka" in Polish, sometimes translated as a "four-cornered hat" into English. Googling for the name is not helpful though, because the name is the same for any form of "four-cornered hat" that's been in use in Polish military and police services till today. So if you want to google for it, enter "Rogatywka wojny napoleonskie" ("four-cornered hat Napoleoinc Wars).

Thanks! I always thought they wore a different uniform than the regular French infantry. Might take a second look at Murawski miniatures for the legion then.
