The game went, almost, according to plan! As a demonstration game we expected to spend an awful lot of time chatting to people, and we did. In anticipation of a lot of talking, the port was there purely for medicinal purposes. Using the "Beneath the Lilly Banners" rules, the Austrian and German columns began to move down from the forests on the high ground. A few skirmishes took place, and some lucky Austrian dragoons managed to hold off the left wing, before becoming over ambitious with the Cairo Spahis!
It took a while for the Polish to appear (The Hussars were on the table from the start for aesthetic reasons) leaving the initial fight to the infantry and light cavalry. We hurried them along and they were starting to make headway when, time to pack up!
A good "demo game" we will do it in the shed on a bigger table, and hopefully with at least three per side, and no "Vienna" taking up room. As for the rules, we think that they are good for the period, a little more playing to become more familiar.

Gorgeous! How long have you been collecting these models for? They’re not all your own, surely?

Cheers, a few years, most were done in 2017 for the Bovington show. All belong in the shed.

Methinks 'tis more Tales From the Vienna Woods than Midge Ure.

As always, you put on a great game! Shame I was not there. Are you taking it to Legionary?
