What have all these 19th-century battles got in common? If you're in the UK on Sunday 19 May, you have the opportunity to play them at the BBB Bash Day in Daventry. We're running a bunch of participation games at the Battlefield Hobbies game store. Full details here:

Sounds Interesting, AND local (I'm in Rugby) :D

Then please come along and join us! It's all about sharing the love for 19th-century big battles and playing games that manage to be fast, fun and historical, all at the same time. We'll do our best to entertain you.

Looks like Vodkafan & I (both Rugby) will attend. He is interested in Brandy Station (Vodka, Brandy... getting a theme here. lol)

Oh, doubly excellent! It'll be great to meet fellow LAF denizens. Should be a spirited occasion - make mine a slivovitz.
Can I encourage you to sign up via the Battlefield Hobbies website or drop us an email at bbb.bashday @ gmail.com so that Mark knows to expect you? I think the majority of places are taken now but still room for a few more.
-
Tried to e-mail, three times. Keeps telling me to check the e-mil address.
I used what you said,
bbb.bashday @ gmail.com
What am I doing wrong? ???
This was the message (if that helps at all)
Myself (Has.been), & fellow LAFer Vodkafan, would like to take part in
the largest Cavalry battle of the ACW.
Is that OK?
-
Sorry about the email problem. Did you take the spaces out either side of the @?

I did a copy & paste.
I'll give it a try following your suggestion.

That seems to have worked, so I'm off to bed now. :D
-
Splendid. With a nightcap, I trust.
Update: Spion Kop (2nd Boer War) now added to the agenda.
-
The Alma and Balaclava now added to the agenda. These are Matt Bradley's outstanding work, as showcased on his 'Pushing Tin' blog:

Bash Day blog post updated accordingly:

Change the date to 2024 and select May via the Jump Month button. Select the 19th and there is the option to pre-pay for the event directly to the shop. £7 GBP covers 9am to 6pm for the day of gaming.
Looking forward to meeting some fellow LAFfers there!
-
Hmm, commute from NYC a tad too long. Have a great time, guys!
-
Even longer from Michigan. But it would be great to be there to play in some of those games...
-
Actually we do have one US player crossing the pond to join in! (OK, that's not his only reason for coming to UK - but he has modified his trip.)
-
Great to meet fellow LAFfers, Vodkafan and has.been, at Bash Day last Sunday! And a bunch of other good people too. My report of the convention is here:

Thanks to the organisers & referees.
I found everyone friendly, which is nice.
Vodkafan and I both purchased a copy of the rules (good sign).
In fact Flatpack has offered to lend his 15mm ACW troops so that our local gamers (The Regulars :D) can see the rules in action.
Pictures & AAR when we get to play.

Looking for an introductory game? Can I suggest my First Bull Run scenario in BBB groups files?
If you fancy something larger, the Fencibles have enjoyed the Shiloh scenario by Chris many times, also in the files, last I looked.
-
Cheers, I'll take a look. :)
-
Good suggestions, thanks, Vincent. I definitely endorse Bull Run - I've used it as an introductory scenario myself. Cedar Creek is another small manageable one. These and a bunch of others are in the 1861 folder in the BBB group files (you have to sign up but it's free and easy to leave again when you want):

Soooo….
Found out my old 15mm ACW figures, in a metal toolbox, like we did in the old days.

One layer of confederates..

And one layer of federal troops…

I’m sure we can get a game with these.
I also found a little scenery that I tarted up.
Some basic gun emplacement, went from this…

I also found a couple of buildings.

Which I started to improve.

Lovely stuff Bob. :)
-
Those look great, Bob! Such nice armies don't deserve to have been gathering dust for so long. If Bash Day has helped to get them into action again, I'm very happy! I hope y'all have a good time at Bull Run. Looking forward to pics and AAR.

Those gun emplacements look great.
