Title: US Sailors
Post by: Bullshott on 20 November 2009, 09:13:26 AM
Two questions:

First Question : how do the Redoubt ACW sailors scale in with other ranges (I'm thinking in particular of Redoubt's Boxer Rebellion renge and Tiger Minatures figures)?

Second Question : when did the US Navy stop using the soft caps depicted on the Redoubt figures and go over to the style we would recognise today, as depicted on Pulp's US sailors?

The Redoubt figures will blend in with the Boxer stuff, but will be a bit taller.

The soft cap was adopted in the 1880's to replace the Sennet hat as summer or tropical headgear. The black, flat cap continued to be used for winter wear.

@ Skrapwelder - thanks for the info - the good news is I can therefore use either cap syle, the bad news is I can't decide which way to go!

@ Mors - a picture would be great if you get the chance

Thanks Mors.

The sailor isn't as large as I had feared, so I guess I'll be going for Redoubt for my naval crews.
