Does anyone know if the stats of teams from the newest edition are compatible with older rules?
The reason I ask is that we exclusively play the 3rd edition of the rules (the final version as released by Specialist Games back in the day), but I also had to have the new Gnome team.
They're small enough to be based on 25mm, and from the little booklet that comes with the set and also has their stats, I am deducting that (bar some new special rules) the team should be playable under the older ruleset.
I could obviously be wrong (the game does not get a lot of play in my group, so the rules are not top of mind), in which case I will have to either find a fan-created set of stats, or come up with my own.
But of course I'd rather play them as is, what with the special rules for the foxes etc...

No, there have been a lot of changes since 3rd ed, not 100% on stats but definitely on skills.

There's also now a Pass stat, so Agility doesn't determine a player's skills with the ball. The clever thing about that is you now can get players who are slippery/sneaky and such without them also being amazing at throwing the ball, which fits certain players/races a bit better. The Gnomes will have been designed with this in mind, I think, so using them for the old rules would cause problems almost right away. Your best bet would just to have them as proxies for another team.

That was one of the things we consistently asked them to do during the Rules Committee years, and every time it was shot down by Jervis Johnson as "to complicated". ::)
Even though they'd had something similar in 1e and 2e.

Yeah, the stat changes would make that pretty difficult to do, along with all the new abilities that were added since 3rd ed. I've not purchased 2nd season yet, so I can't tell you more than that.

Looks like they'll be shelf warmers then, but no worries; I like them enough to paint them without fielding them. Might even throw in a Treeman as well... :D
