Title: Painted the Octarius Boxed Set
Post by: Easy E on May 07, 2024, 07:16:59 PM
I got the Kill Team boxed set called Octarius.  Kill Team had been gaining popularity in my area, so I figured it was a good buy.  It comes with two Kill Teams, terrain, and some playing bitz-n-bobs.  I managed to get the whole thing painted up early this year.  Perhaps a miracle?

I posted some details about finishing up my Octarius Kill Team boxed set on my blog.

I am not 100% sure this is a great boxed set to get you into Kill Team if you were a complete wargaming newbie.  However, as someone familiar with wargaming, Kill Team and 40K it worked pretty well for me.  Could I design a better starter box?  Probably not.

Good stuff, congrats on getting through it. I always quite fancied that set but in the end demonstrated a bit of will power for a change.

I failed my willpower roll when it came to that set ;D

However, I've only painted half the Orks so far, as there were so many details on top of details, under other details, behind other details and in front of other details o_o I also made the mistake of basing them before painting, and there are just places where a brush would not go.

Congrats indeed on getting through them. I'm sure I'll get back to them someday, once the memory of the first lot has faded

Painting each Ork felt like painting two minis.  There was the Ork itself, and then there was their backpack.  Honestly, it was probably way too much detail for a starter set kit!  If I was new to mini-painting I might never paint again!

I think they look good.

I love the idea of KT, this set especially.  I don't play GW games but my grandsons love the Ork models.
Time to scour eBay for sellers parting out the box set.

e-bay is likely cheaper, but the Orks are available separately from GW - https://www.warhammer.com/en-GB/shop/kill-team-kommandos-2022

They're also available from Wayland at 20% off - https://www.waylandgames.co.uk/kill-team-kommandos-99120103108 (this assumes you are in a location that can buy from Wayland)

I have found them useful in a few different game systems as well.  :)

I have the Kommandos from this set and they are great models.

Been using them in Grimdark Future Firefight for the past 6 months, slowly adding other individuals as I go.
