This is the inspiration, not my model! A buddy of mine asked if I could make him some Ottawa Longhouses for his Tribal game. It seemed a simple enough project so I set to work https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/05/scratchbuilding-28mm-ottowa-longhouses.html (https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/05/scratchbuilding-28mm-ottowa-longhouses.html)
Progress so far

Off to a very nice start.

Much more bold than me! I simply bought mine from Acheson Creations way back when. lol
Good luck -- that's a very nice inspiration and start!

I finally got around to putting some paint on these, you can follow the process here https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2024/06/put-spot-of-paint-on-it-ottawa.html

Nice work and thanks for sharing the write up on your Blog.
I've built a couple of sets of 15mm Longhouses and Wigwams many, many moons ago now but sold one set on eBay and another to a friend of mine. I am currently back into my 15mm FIW project and am restarting my own Native American villiage, so your post is welcome motivation.

Barry S, I'm trying to resist building the palisaded village for them to go inside.......but I feel weak
I got them based, but they seem so lonely just being out there in the woods.......

Those are well brilliant, I think you should just give in and make the palisade 😂
-
Those look very nice - I like them!

They do indeed. Fabulous looking bits of terrain!

I'd seen these somewhere else (I think) and they do look lovely. However, seeing them with the first photo, curious as to why you opted out of adding in those splotches of color from the photo? Still nice without it but might have looked even better with - as long as done with a muted tone. Perhaps that is why the omission, fear or overdoing it?
Oh, and you really should do the stockade! For a reason, watch Black Robe if you haven't seen it. (Haven't seen it for years but ordered a copy today just because I remember liking the movie so much back when I had it on VHS format.)

FifteensAway, When I watched the video of the guys building a real one, the differences in the color of the bark panels was very small. It seems that the Native Americans chose a certain type of tree to harvest the bark from which left the color very consistent (if I weren't so lazy I would paint the stripe of moss along the side that had faced north)

These look amazing! Thanks for posting, really nice bit of inspiration ;)

A very original idea that is superbly executed.
