Oooh, now that's interesting. Might get my Scots Army in France restarted again!

Ah great 8) and if I may say so, about timer too!
BTW, there's a very good book with excellent heraldic illustrations from Histoire et Collections:
Siege Of Orléans And The Loire Campaign 1428-1429: Joan of Arc and the Path to Victory:

Well worth a read and gander at.

It's very exciting news! Considering the timeline for the book covers the whole Lancastrian phase, hopefully we get some good material for Compagnie d'ordonnance and free archers.
-
Promising news indeed.
I seem to recall a French book from the same author on the battle of Verneuil. Could be Men at arms books can still be written by experts on the topic ;)

Wonderful! I’ll certainly be looking forward to that release, looks very useful for all us HYW gamers out there :)

I've wanted to read up on the Maid of Orleans for a while now and so I checked Amazon and saw they had one left here in Germany so I kinda panicked a bit because they had just the one and it's fourteen years old and bought it ::)
Guess I've gotta pick up the Bad Squiddo Joan now, too lol

Osprey Men at Arms? There's barley enough room to fit any any information but the very bare bones! i have several hundreds of them to prove it! ;)

I do wonder what would be the best way to represent the French army around the time of the Loire campaign. I suppose Perry's Agincourt line, but from my own research it seems like the sallet started showing up in France within a few years after Agincourt. Maybe mix in some heads from the WOTR line?

The cover of that Osprey makes her look like a younger Margaret Thatcher but wearing a sensible hat. Perhaps in her Secretary of State for Education period? Makes you wonder if it's Denis hiding under the visor to her right. Then again it might be Michael Heseltine. Opportunity missed not to do a pop up version where you could raise the visor and reveal all.
I think I prefer Annie/Alan Marsh's version overall.

It's definitely a statement hat! At 28mm we always try and straddle the mix of accuracy and recognisability, so no hat or helm (even though she had both) was more "iconic", and statements about her often being bare headed to show she was just "a little girl" and that if she was out there yelling, then you lads better put some effort in. They're right on the brown horse, again pretty much everything from this period is documented, but we've painted ours white as the maid symbolism, and because legally in wargames all the leaders have to be on white horses right? It's the rules! (i like the Osprey cover!)
