Finished this from marks little soldiers range, I tried to paint him like the illustration, with an outline, glossed up to finish the toy look
-
The inspiration
-
You certainly got that look right, works really well!
-
Lovely work,is Snowy next ?
-
You could certainly believe that was genuinely a Britain's Tintin toy from the 1950s.
-
GLOSSY
-
Excellent! Please show us more of your work.
-
That's lovely. :)
-
Nicely done, really captures the style
-
Thanks guys 🙏🏻
-
A superb rendition!
-
Wonderful! :-*
That outlining really nails it!
-
That is brilliant Andy. So simple, so effective. You’ve really captured a feel of Hergé’s trademark Ligne Claire :-*
And that is a seriously high gloss finish.
I find this range almost irresistible, although I’m still just holding out so far lol
-
Fantastic work Andy! Your effort to capture the look of the artwork has been completely successful, he looks like he's stepped out of the page! That gloss will keep him safe if some idiot drops him as well! lol
Captain Blood - resist no longer, I say! :D
-
Thanks again guys,
Richard, I have to say invest in a pack and try them out, a nice break from the norm!
-
What did you use to do the black lining?
-
The bkack lining was done using a contrast paint called black Templar, it’s just the right consistency neither wash nor solid paint, then any mistakes were tidied up after with the base colors
-
Great job! Spot on! :-*
-
You certainly nailed the paint, for both the subject matter and the effect that you were going for. Very well done indeed.
-
An perfectly fun idea and excellent execution.
-
Thanks again guys
-
Majorsmith , what did you use for gloss coat. I’ve tried several different varnishes both spray and brushed on and can’t seem to get it as shiny as you did.
-
love it.
-
I use miniature paints acrylic gloss varnish, trick is to thin it down and apply 2 -3 thin coats

Thanks for the reply. So there's no specific brand just proper technique. I'll have to be more patient ;D
-
No the brands called miniature paints, quite cheap but very good, i usually buy mine from coritani magnetic displays in the uk
-
That's superb Andy. There's something very appealing about that range if you're a Tintin fan. You've nailed the aesthetic with your paintjob.
-
Very smart; a lovely and unusual execution.
-
Thanks again guys :)
