These are my Swedish UN peacekeepers that fought in Katanga province during the Congo Crisis. The biggest challenge in making them was finding M/45 Carl Gustav SMGs that was the standard armament for these boys. Hardly no manufacturer makes figs with that weapon, so needed to work hard with modding.
-
This weapon. Although totally inadequate against the Katangan Gendarme’s FN FAL, the Swedes managed to hold their own surprisingly well.
-
Then I found these boys from Copplestone and realised that they definitely could become Swedish UN soldiers.
-
With bayonet and british chest pouches they really look the part

This is a modded GI from Warlord Games

I like what you've done here.
I really should do up some UN troops (mine would be early 90s...). They could come in handy in Northern Gambola...
-
I like - great dedication to getting everything accurate down to the type of SMG level.

Excellent stuff, always great to have peacekeepers on hand.

I missed these before. Great stuff.
Did you see the SKPF I did? One or two of those would look great in UN white.

Wonderful work on those peacekeepers! 8)
And good work on that APC(?) as well; never actually seen that one before.
But: dang! That is one ugly mongrel of a vehicle lol

Yes but it packs away neatly for storage and shipping and all mechanical repairs can be carried out with just an Allen key. Comes in green, white and a sort of bleached wood veneer. ;)

Chipboard armour then eh? :D

It's wonderfully ugly. ;)

I found these quite useful as Swedish proxies:

In addition to the M/45 SMG didn't the Swedish contingent in the Congo use AG m/42B rifles as their standard weapon? I know I have seen photos of them in service with Swedish UN peacekeepers there.
Might be best converting Warlord's plastic Gew 43s as proxies if you need those.
Those Copplestone baddies are very useful. I've converted a number as East German paras and various others including a US SF advisor.

This group of Swedish soldiers in the Congo are on mine-clearing duty, and they are armed with m/45B submachine guns and Ljungman AG m/42B rifles.
