So…
…owing to the need to pay for a well earned holiday and the looming edifice of four sets of school uniform plus associated accoutrements to finance, it seemed prudent fund-wise to dust off a box from the ‘penthouse’ to furnish a summer project…
And what did we find? A large rattling box of ogres plus change, some painted, assembled, part converted, still on frames, some less so. Fertile stuff for the over worked and pleasure starved imagination and suitably large foes for the west wind orc warband seen elsewhere.
But what to do and how to start? Stop the prevarication you chimpfooted fool and crack on…ideas will come through hard work not staring at the the ceiling playing with your toy soldier…
There are a lot and I mean a lot of bits to comb and through and choose from as most of the stuff comes from a time when individual bits could be ordered although the bay of E does fill this void nowadays.
First up armoured centre.
Heavy hitters with shields (because why not?) and nice big choppy axes from the Minotaur set.
Cheers all

…ah the problem of choice…
-
First unit of axe and shield ogres
Using DR as a guide for unit sizes so reduced to four models due to size etc
Only expenditure so far has been a score of 40mm mdf square bases as I really couldn’t be bothered with cutting circles for the movement trays/bases

And some individual publicity shots…
-
Great job! I expect that they will make a very large hole in whatever battle line they’re thrown against.
-
I'm not overly fond of GW ogres (the faction, they've done some solid individual models at times!) but these look really well done.
-
These guys look great
-
Thanks Magnus Tom and Elbows 👍🏼
Adding some puppies to this crew as the cats are nowhere to be found🤷♂️
-
Very nice! Out of interest, is there any particular gaming system you're planning to use these for?
-
Thanks basement boy👍🏼
Most probably work it around Dragon Rampant as those are (for me) some of the most straight forward-fun to play rules I’ve come across 😊
Couple of wip shots of the boys on the table at the moment and prototype war banner
Unit three of about six I think

After a slight holiday lay off we’re back at it
Finished off the two wolf units and the second unit of ogre two handers
Loads more in t’blog
Cheers all

These are fantastic! I generally prefer the more old school ogre look, but your project shows how great the newer style can be!
-
Great stuff :)
-
Thanks Oshiro and Gibby: and by newer style you presumably mean twenty odd years old? 😳🤣😉 only joking wish I hadn’t mentioned it actually as it just highlights may own age 😳
Couple more shots of the whole warband as it stands. Really enjoying seeing it come together and take the weight from the bits box in the process 🙄🤣

More great work there!

Finally got something done on the summer project
Holidays work and work work work
Any who
Another unit complete. Double axe ‘light infantry’ types and a minor wip of one of the three cavalry/leader/knight types
Starting to come together 👍🏼
Cheers all
