Hello everyone,
After a long break, I’m excited to dive back into the WWII miniatures! :-*
This thread will chronicle my journey as I get back into WWII and Battlegroup system.
To kick things off, I’m starting with some early war Waffen SS troops in Oak Leaf camouflage from Pegasus. Here are pictures of my first batch:

I really dig the color on the camo.

Thanks :)
I'm done with the second batch! This time, I aimed for the Plane Tree camouflage pattern. I'm not quite happy with the results, though—I think the base color turned out a bit too dark. But for now, they will do.

Just had an intense and exciting game of Battlegroup Blitzkrieg, playing the Reece Screen scenario with 500 points. It was 1939 Poland vs. Germany, and I played as the Germans.
The game started with a fierce exchange of gunfire between Polish and German reconnaissance vehicles. The Germans had a lot of mortar spotters and were calling for mortar fire almost every turn. The Polish forces had an artillery observer, but he was taken out by German mortar fire early on, leaving them unable to call for artillery support for the rest of the game.
One of the Polish recon tankettes tried to take out the German recon commander but failed. After the scout phase ended, the Germans started pushing on their left flank, attempting to bypass the strong defenses on the main road and flank the Polish forces from behind.
Three Polish 7TP tanks were holding the main road, successfully knocking out German vehicles one by one. Both sides sustained heavy casualties, with destroyed vehicles littering the battlefield. However, in the end, the Polish battlegroup was the first to exceed its battle rating and was eventually defeated.
Here are some photos from the game:

It was a thrilling match with lots of tactical maneuvers and intense firefights. Looking forward to the next battle!

Great looking action! Glad to hear the Poles put up a spirited resistance... 8)
-
They sure did! The action was intense, and the 7TP tanks proved to be incredibly strong for their period.

Hi everyone,
I've just finished painting a Jagdpanzer IV L70 in winter camouflage. The model is by Dragon, which I got second-hand. I made a few customizations, including replacing the barrel with a metal one and swapping out the rubber tracks for plastic Ostkette, better suited for muddy terrain.
I also added some stowage, mostly from PSC, but with a few other pieces mixed in. Among the stowage, you'll notice some US jerry cans—possibly captured during the Battle of the Bulge.
I went heavy on the mud and dirt effects—maybe a little too heavy this time, but hey, war is messy, right?

That is an awesome paintjob. :-*

Great stuff MaaX! That L70 looks suitably tired (I’m going for that look with my car lol ) and your table looks brilliant. Glad to see more Battlegroup getting table time and being enjoyed.

Last week had a tense 500-point game of Battlegroup Bagration, where I commanded the German forces. Here’s how it all played out:
The battle began with a steady advance of my Panther platoon, moving in a column towards the village at the center of the table. However, things took a turn when the lead Panther was pinned down as soon as it entered the village. The rest of the platoon quickly moved offroad to bypass the obstacle and took up firing positions.
As the battle unfolded, enemy T-34s started arriving from reserves. They relentlessly targeted the unlucky pinned Panther, keeping it out of action. Meanwhile, my Tiger and an Sd.Kfz. 222 flanked left around the village, aiming to gain a tactical advantage.
Then came a very bold charge by my mechanized grenadiers and their tank hunter teams armed with panzerfausts. They managed to take out a few T-34s in a daring assault, but the victory was short-lived as the grenadiers were wiped out soon after, dealing a heavy blow to my Battlegroup’s Battle Rating (BR).
Despite most of the T-34s being destroyed, giving the German Panthers the upper hand, the tide of battle turned when my Battlegroup’s BR was exceeded. In the end, the Germans were forced to surrender/withdraw.

We recently played a 500-point Battlegroup Fall of the Reich game, where I took command of the German forces, and my opponent led the US. The scenario was Bridgehead Breakout, and I was tasked with holding the bridge.
My force consisted of three Panthers, a Tiger, and an 88mm AT gun. My opponent brought three Pershings and an M-10 tank destroyer. I positioned my Panthers strategically: one on the left with the Tiger, one behind the bridge with the 88mm AT gun, and one on the right.
On the left flank, my Panther faced off against a Pershing and the M-10. After a few turns of intense gunfire, my Panther was pinned down, and eventually, both my Panther and Tiger were destroyed. However, I managed to take out his M-10 in the process.
With my left flank crumbling, I pushed the Panther from the bridge to the right, where it joined the other Panther. This led to several rounds of fierce exchanges between my two Panthers and his two Pershings, along with a Chaffee, but neither side scored any kills.
Meanwhile, my 88mm AT gun and sniper team were effective in pinning down and forcing two US infantry squads and a weapons team to fall back.
Unfortunately, the store was closing, and we ran out of time to finish the game. It looked like the US would likely have won if we had more time to play, but it was a close and intense battle right up to the end.

I’ve just finished painting the first infantry section for my winter Germans.
For this batch, I opted for a mix of uniform colors and configurations, as well as a variety of colors for the pouches and other accessories. I wanted to create a more dynamic and varied look for the unit.
Here are some pictures of the finished section:

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my latest additions to my Winter WWII German force in 20mm scale. These miniatures are from AB Figures, and they turned out great after painting!
I’ve completed two MG34 sections, one team is equipped with a bipod, while the other is mounted on a tripod.

Back again, this time with a late-war Kübelwagen.
The model is from S-Model, with crew and extras from Plastic Soldier Company.
This one had been sitting half-finished on my shelf for a few years... Looking at it now, I probably should’ve made the officer a passenger rather than the driver – but oh well...

That looks good. Maybe the officer doesn't trust the other guys' driving skills...
-
Thanks! Could be :)
-
Maybe the officer is the only one who knows how to drive? It wasn't the virtually universal skill it is today.
-
Good point, I didn't even think about that.
