Hello to everyone on the LAF!
Wargames, Soldiers, and Strategy has launched its 11th annual survey of our great hobby of wargaming. The anonymised results are available on our blog for all wargames — you don't need to buy the magazine to see them. The more people who enter, the better chance we have of getting a comprehensive picture of the hobby as a whole for 2024.
You can choose to enter the prize draw. Every entrant gets a discount voucher from Karwansaray and a unique STL file courtesy of Atlantic Digital. This year, it is Montjoy, the French herald from Henry V.
You can enter here: https://gws2024.paperform.co/
You can also read about previous surveys here: https://www.karwansaraypublishers.com/wss_gws/
Thanks,
Guy

Thanks for running the survey, Guy and WSS. Have already responded. No one else needs to enter the raffle, because I am the sure-fire winner!!
Love WSS. Awesome. More 15/18mm and 6mm coverage would be nice, but all good.

All done :)
-
Done! I’m looking forward to seeing the results.
-
Done, whee!
Must confess though, I just pluck a number out of the air each year for how many painted minis I have. It's a lot, definitely.
: P
-
Completed it. :)
-
Done and done.
-
Done.
I game with more people younger than me than I ever have in previous surveys.
-
Done :)
-
I am survey, and you can, too!
I moved up an age bracket this year … 👴🏻
-
Got older and game a lot less often which still feels weird. Thanks to being retired I also know exactly how many figures I have painted or not. This too would be weird to my younger self.

I also am retired … it’s the worst.

Done - always an interesting read when the survey results are collated.
-
Completed. I wonder how many people told the truth about the unpainted figures ? lol
-
Submitted.
I do feel that the estimates for how many unpainted miniatures one has, are monumentally lowballing expectations though. I mean; only 1000+ as the largest choice? lol
-
Anything over 1000+ on the scale is potentially dangerous and the individual should seek treatment from appropriate professionals immediately.

True, and there's a scale factor at play here too, are 1000+ unpainted 6mm figures the same as 1000+ unpainted 28mm figures? Oddzial's Osmy's 3mm infantry comes in (not sure if it's changed lately) packs of 150 figures. I have more than seven of those packs around here...

Or as I intend to do; re-classify them as Grave Goods.
-
My children have threatened to bury me with my unpainted figures arrayed around me like the Chin Emperor and his Terracotta Army. :) :) :)

I agree with the scale playing a part. I am down to 1239 unpainted 28mm figures which almost fits on 6ft one shelving unit. The 2335 ~15 Warlord Epic ACW unpainted miniatures fit in one big box. Still a lot to paint but much easier to store.
Being buried with the painted figures would be better for afterlife gaming.

Well, IIRC his were actually painted when he was buried with them, so get crackin' at getting an army of craftsmen assembled first to paint your army of diminutive grave guardians.

AFTER you die, I hope?
