Pig Iron have released more SF troopers in heavy armour - the strangely named System Troopers. Very nice they are too…
;D

The heads look a little odd in the metal shots with the flat top but they look great in the painted shots. I'm very tempted.
-
These folks have come a long way with their mini's.
They are hunting for that "sweet spot" and getting closer every day.
Bright days ahead for Pig Iron, me thinks.
-
They are managing to produce sci fi troopers that look right and yet not tainted by GW or too much movie influence. More power to them.

You could buy different heads for them. I like the visored ones.
-
Yeah, I'd like to see them with the other head. They should put that up as a picture.

If you're going to hotlink to an image from TGN can you at least post a link back to the story?

Because if you did then people would also have seen the Kolony Heavy Weapon teams and read the little blurb about their future releases.

Sorry. Didn't realise there was an official proceedure.
-
Those figures are very nice! And the Feral special weapons are cool too!

Agreed. I'm not a fan of the 'Flat Top'; reminds me too much of the Bauhaus Blitzer look of WarZone fame.
But since these are Pig Iron and the heads are cast separately we have options!!!. I have a lot of the Heavy Infantry style head sprues saved up for exactly this type of situation. :)
Not all Pig Iron minis have separately cast heads. But the head-swap thing is a Pig Iron feature and I get the impression they work it into as many of the packs as possible.
The question is whether to buy straight off, or wait to see what else they have up their crafty sleeves for System Troopers?

There is no official procedure. Its just courteous to reference the source of your images.
And, as I mentioned, you only had one of three parts of the story as well. There were other minis released that look just as nifty and make great waste scavengers

Have any of the last series of releases not come with separate heads? I can't recall anything released in the last two years that had

PI 1 Heavy Infantry Command pack
PI 2 Heavy Infantry Assault Squad
PI 4 HI Missile Team
PI 5 HI Heavy Laser Team
PI 6 HI Chaingun Team
PI 7 HI Casualties
All these have cast-on heads.
Another way to say this would have been that for Heavy Infantry only the booster pack, PI 8, has the separate heads.

All these have cast-on heads.
Those were all some of their first releases, no?
Besides, the armour and the head all fit in together so most of the head swaps wouldn't look that great IMO unless you were putting in heads without helmets.
I'd actually like to see them redo those initial heavy troops but I doubt that Simon has the cash/time for that.
-
That's info confirmed from the Pig Iron shop today.
I think the Heavies will make great support infantry for the System Troopers.
Mostly I'm happy to see some diversity added to the companies offerings.
-
Hmmm. Rather tasty.
I've jsut finished painting 5 ferals and am midway through 5 rebels. I am using the heads interchangeably. They work rather well like that...
Now I shall have to get the rebel and feral heavy weapon packs too...
Ho hum... It never ends, does it? ;)

Looking forward to seeing those! I'm a big fan of your painting style, Captain.
-
Love the look of them. A nice middle ground between flak-jacketed and power-armoured sci-fi soldiers.
-
Seems the badgering finally paid off. Very nice too. :)
-
Those new System Troopers are Traveller wish fulfillment for me! Cool Combat Armored troops that aren't GW. Yay!
-
They look awesome big fan of the pig iron stuff
thanks for sharing

Confirmed today by email:
All future ST releases will feature the same separate heads.
Kind regards
Lisa
So System Troopers are a go for Head Swap happiness. That's it, I'm placing my order now. 5150 & Tomorrow War, here we come!

Despite the plethora of 25/28mm sci-fi minis available now, Pig Iron are still amongst my favourite figures. I've already ordered the system troopers and look forward to getting some painted and posted here. Must be said too - lovely people to do business with!
-
Wish they would do more Ferals... those are my favorites! :D

I think I just found some replacement UNE troops for Legions of Steel. Nice to see Pig Iron keep their independent looks.
Here's hoping they do some active figures aswell.
-

Totally agree there, the troopers are actually quite nice and their helmet is brilliant but the proportions of the body... ah... not great.
If a redo was done, I'd also go with a different rifle design as the ones they have seem too blocky for my taste.
Overall though, as I said before, this appears to be a company with a bright future.
