Title: Upcoming demo table for the Battle for the Trasimeno Line
Post by: Vanth on 24 August 2024, 10:44:29 AM
I have been asked by the local mayor to arrange a demo wargame showcasing an episode of the Battle for the Trasimeno Line during an event on the 7th and 8th of September. The plan is to use Chain of Command to reenact the attack of a platoon of the 2nd London Irish Rifles (38 Irish Brigade, 78th Infantry Division) against the Pucciarelli Ridge on June 20th, 1944, one of the opening moves of the battle.
Me and a mate are working on several items we need to achieve this, the first being some olive trees which were quite common in the area. More items to follow...

Nice work on the olive trees.  Care to share how you made them?

Sure! The structure is made simply by twisting together a bunch of copper wire (which I got from old electric cables) and then texturing it with textured paint, the foliage is made with pillow stuffing. Then it's mostly airbrush and drybrush...

Great work! Will it be presented at a local show? Can you please tell us where?

It will be presented during an event called Mille e Una Umbria in the town of Paciano, province of Perugia. The event is a general interest event, with market stalls, music, crafts et cetera. The table should be inside Palazzo Baldeschi, which in June 1944 was briefly used as HQ for the 344th Infanterie Division before the Germans abandoned the village and redeployed on the hills on the other side of the valley in preparation for the battle.

It would be a pleasure: We will have the demo on the 8th, the second day of the event. It will be in a space just in front of the town hall, in the main square of Paciano.

The work on the demo goes on: here is a quick Semovente da 75/34 in German service. After taking the pics, I noticed that my dogs have left some traces on it, but they have now been removed: hope you'll like it even with the odd stray hair...

I know nothing about armour, but is a large white square opening up to be silhouetted against not a bad idea?
Title: Sad news!

Unfortunately, the whole event has been canceled due to extremely bad weather conditions expected (and most of the event would have been in the open). So our demo too has been canceled and the whole thing will have to wait for a future occasion. Thank you all for the attention, I will keep you updated on future developments...
