Title: Vae Victis Magazine subscriber miniatures.

Some time ago there was mention of a set of these sculpted by the Perry twins. I can't find the post and am unsure if the Foundry set of 3 (now available individually) is the same lot or if they did two sets over time. Anyone any ideas?

I did pick this interesting set up however have no idea over 'Surcouf' - ayone?

Robert Surcouf (12 December 1773 – 8 July 1827) was a French privateer, businessman and slave trader who operated in the Indian Ocean from 1789 to 1808 during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Capturing over 40 prizes, he later amassed a large fortune from a variety of commercial activities, such as ship-owning, privateering, slave trading and owning land.

Thanks. I’d seen that but I’m thinking it’s the cartoon type mini with wings. No other internet references that I can find.

The way I read it is that the little fella is Nelson. There was a French cartoon character of this name. As that Nelson was a little orange devil he’d have to be wearing a disguise.
 
Moving on, and to echo what I said on your blog, Charlemagne looks more like Mark Copplestone’s work than that of the Perrys. Louis XIV too, come to that.

Surcouf is clearly the right-most figure. Matches the classic comic book portrayal of the historical figure, but more importantly has all of his limbs (note the two outthrust arms, each with a pistol, on the sprue).

I guess "Nelson" is that... thing. Not sure what it's from, but my guess is another French comic?

Are those weird things on the sprue wings for the little guy perhaps?

I was sort of reminded of Arthur from The Tick actually...
