I'm a big fan of Agema and am saddened by their changed focus away from the excellent Punic War range they were developing. Fortunately much of their stuff is still available from Footsore.
Here's my latest few. The aspis bearing guy is metal. The 2 w scutums are from plastic box set. I've had a crack at free handing the shields of these 2 and am quite happy with the results. Room for improvement but they look good from a distance.

I totally agree with you, the startup range was and still is excellent from a one man band. I have the early Carthaginian minis that Gregg produced. Great sculpts though on the smaller 25mm scale.
-
These look great! How do they compare to Footsore’s original ranges?

Actually taller than they appear due to being quite slim and proportional.

Yeah. I'm bummed that I can't buy a lot of the older metal Romans and Carthaginians. Also Cretan Archers, additional metal Punic heads... etc . Greg also showed off some nice Samnites that never got to market and well as Punic Citizen Militia. All would be in my collection if they were available anytime :(

The Agema figures have a distinctive style, which both makes them attractive to collect, and frustrating when you can't complete a unit. I have two packs of Carthaginians that might never make it to the table because I'll need 2 more packs to fill out a unit. And nothing else matches for size and style.
Its a shame about the Samnites, given the style from the Etruscan collection, these would have been a welcome addition to my collection.

Are you interested in selling those Carthaginians ? If so can you post a photo of them ?
-
I'm going to hold onto them for now.
You can see how slight they are in this pic. To the left is a GB Polemarch figure - about the same height but much thinner in the body. To the right is an Agema plastic, much larger in all measures.

Oooh yeah. They are a bit malnourished :) lol
-
Someone should reach out to Gregg and see if he has access to the moulds and perhaps a new company could cast some more miniatures.
I have just finished painting the metal Carthaginians. I will post some pics up soon.

Roman's nightmare !
Etruscan Axeman has cut a swathe through the Roman Hastati and is ready to
do the same w the princepes!
Modified from the Agema metal "Etruscan Class I Warriors in Lamellar". I got
these figures by mistake. I wasn't thrilled with them as they aren't very exciting and have
spindly legs and arms. They come in a pack of 6 w 2 copies of 3 distinct figures.
So that's an invitation to kitbash 3 in my book ! I started by twisting off his head . Not too difficult as it's
soft metal. I then drilled out his neck to accommodate the head from Aventine.
His weedy arms were sniped off at the shoulders and replaced w plastic Agema arms
from the Roman Legion box set. Next the right hand was removed to replace
with a hand w axe - from an old Dark Ages kit.
Having almost completed the figure I wasn't happy with the result. Colours
didn't work so well and he just lacked a bit of flair. Here the "blood effects" from Army
Painter came to the rescue. I painted, sponged and flicked it on liberally to
give the gory intimidating look that he now sports. All together I think he's a worthy
adversary for the cocky Roman Triplex Acies.

Not being able to buy some of the great old Agema stuff, like this guy....
I've had to resort to some kitbashing to make an approximate replica
-
so here's my best effort.
Agema Roman plastic body
Aventine metal head
arms from unarmoured Late Roman set by Victix
shield from a Victrix Cavalry set - light Greek Cav I think.
cloak w green stuff

Received some more Etruscans from Footsore / Agema today. As there are 2 duplicates of 3 figures I thought to use these 3 for other cultures...
-
Their historic figures are excellent sculpts. I guess there is more money in blood bowl or whatever those leprechauns are for. At least Aventine aren't closing down now.
-
I think it was all down to cost. A small individual company paying for design, moods and casting for individual figures. Plus the costs of plastics etc. it’s a shame that footsore don’t stock all of Agema metal mini range
-
A few more from the excellent plastic box set.
Hastati
-
Princepes
-
and Triari
-
Much better than the very static Victrix option.
-
yep

Just done some rebasing on these Agema Carthaginian’s. Painted about 7 years ago. Just a bit of detailing to complete them.

Superb! I wish I could get hold of those early Agema figures. I think they were some of their best.

Latest completed guys.
Legate and Consul protected each side by the Lictors. All great metal figures by Agema. The Lictors are slightly smaller scale than their others , although not so obvious in the photo, strangely.
-
They look excellent! I like your basing, it gives a dry, high summer feel. I like the expression on the face of the lictor on the right side of the photo, too.
-
Yeah, he's got a very characterful face.
And thanks re the basing. It's very easy to do.

guy on left has his scrawny R arm replaced by a Victrix one.
