My daughter looked on Prime and can't find it.

If anyone in the US can, please let me know and I'll have her dig again.

It may not be 20000 Leagues, but still intriguing!

I’m about 5 episodes in and enjoying it

I’m not at all knowledgeable of matters VSF but to me it seems like a Victorian ‘Firefly’. I’m liking the characters and the scrapes they get into, with just enough SF to carry the story along.

Hi All, first two episodes of Nautilus watched, and IMO I’m pretty disappointed, the settings, costumes and design work are great (love the German battleship design for example) but the script is average and acting oh dear…anyway I will persist for a bit longer for the eye candy…🍻…cheers!

Also in the US. I don't see it on Amazon.

We're using Amazon JP and it didn't come up in the search function, it was only when scrolling around that it popped up in one of the suggestion areas.

Yeah, it's not great but I can live with that for the aforementioned eye candy  :)

Perfectly acceptable for having on in the background whilst working but little more than that. The sub and the dreadnought look great but there are some Asylum-level CG monsters that are laughably bad.

I was going to suggest former colony bias, but it comes from Oz!  ;)

Maybe we should try VPN location spoofing?

Oh, dear, mayhaps I shall have to watch the other Nautiloids to get the algorithm's attention? One looked dreadful, the other 'meh'.

I want my pointless eye candy!

To be clear, thanks to all, for pointing it out, for evaluations pro and con.

Watched the first episode and not liking it. Acting is average at best, can't unsee Clem Fandango in lead role, costumes OK and story average. Two female characters instantly know how to run the ship and where everyrhing is whilst male designers ponder how to fix something?
Not for me I'm afraid.

Oz, that is why then. Too bad! If this was last year, I was in Melbourne …

So, recently I have seen it referred to as 'British-produced,' so word eating may be indicated.

However, the question remains: has anyone seen it in North America?

A wee bit of sleuthing and...

STAN = Australian streaming service

Australia primary production location

"In October 2023, AMC announced it had acquired the series for broadcast in the United States and Canada,[4][20] where it is set to premiere on 29 June 2025.[21]". Not sure where.

Disney was planning to release under its own imprimatur but chose not to which suggests not up to a certain standard - or perhaps content does not align with Disney.

The sleuthing took about 20 seconds...but I can type Really Fast.  ;)

Thanks, FA!

I saw STAN part early on, but something like a WIKI item had British-produced recently.

Certains nothing about North America. Might be a new development...

Whoops, just saw on amc.com that they have it, but I think those of us hoping for Amazon access may be disappointed.

You're right, didn't take long.  ;)

Back to digging.

It will be on AMC+ in the US, according to the splash ad I just watched last night.

from the trailer i had a hard time figuring out when it is set.. the EIC seems to be around, which would put it pre-1858. but the battleship design would seem to put it post-1880. and it doesn't look like it will span 30 years of time.

the book version is pretty solidly pegged as being in 1866.

Prefacing with 'in the US...'

I am currently on the road, and the motel I am staying at includes AMC+, which is now showing previews announcing 'starts June 29th.'

I will be both pretending it makes up, a small way, for staying in a dump, and almost literal at that, and clamping down any expectations for the show.

Again, thanks all!

We just finished watching the third episode of Nautilus on AMC, and I have definitely changed my mind now from where I was after the first 10 minutes of the show...

The story has basically nothing in common with 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but after I looked back at a synopsis of the original novel, these episodes are no less believable than Verne's work.  The writing is not great, but the setting is, and with the show compressing about 60 years of real world technology it allows the structure of the plot to have a constant threat looming over the crew, much better than the meandering tour the original Nemo took.

For overall feel, the closest comparable show I think to the Nautilus is The Adventures of Brisco County Jr as both are collections of anachronisms held together by comic relief, and a healthy dose of television tropes... so much so that I am probably going to pickup a copy of the Brisco County series, as well as the Nautilus if it comes out.

While this is not a great show, is also not a bad one, and is definitely one to watch to inspire projects set in alternate histories.
