Not been painting much of late but the prospect of Ayton always instils a little mojo. As the only thing I need figures for is Simon's (Goat Major) Lace Hulk game - an C18th dungeon game...
I could have just brought along the Altefritzenburg dragoons from last time...
but... a new Ottoman crew seemed a better choice...

Janissaries

And all in action...

The orange guy is Warfare Miniatures. The rest are Warlord... The lady...unknown and the Nun is Midlam
Nice to have painted something again...

Nice!!!
-
Superb !!!
-
Excellent!
-
Excellent indeed! But since it’s Lace Hulk, I’m now eager to hear about the enemies. Will you stay true to history or delve into fantasy?
-
Cracking work!
Gotnto admit I am intrigued by the Lace Hulk concept lol
-
looks like a lot of fun. well painted. nice setup. i wanna play! who are the bad guys? Genestealers?
-
Those are lovely! Stealers for the Black Death win? lol
-
Great work on the Ottomans
Do tell more about Lace Hulk - not finding much via Google.
-
I think Simon (who built the tunnels) is planning various things. Our initial game had four teams starting in each corner and trying to rescue captives, protect their own prisoner, and fight off hordes of cultists and the like. I've got a load of pics somewhere. It's still early days (we don't meet up that often) but other games are planned.

That's a great idea, re-imagining the Space Hulk concept into the Ottoman period. Love it!

-
I really like these. Ottomans are always fascinating and the dungeon looks great!
-
I'd love to see those Obelisk Miniatures undead Baluchis in there. Perfect for this.
-
And maybe Anno 1666 minis would do nicely, as well. They are for that period and come in little factions who would make perfect dungeon crawler parties.
-
Are Obelisk Miniatures still available?

Strange creatures are stirring in the streets of downtown Altefritzenburg...

Splendid! In such a setting a bunch of goblins does look rather creepy. Not your common, God fearing folk from next door definitely!
-
Someone else sells them, now, I forget who. I'll keep my eyes open.
The sculptor, a really, really nice guy from Germany, was having some heart problems about 10 years ago which were reducing his ability to do business. I hope he's doing alright.
-
Superb imaginative surreal stuff Count! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Oh, and please send me some of what you put in your pipe lol
-
I love that name, "Old Fritz Castle" or "Old Frizzy Castle", depending how you translate it.
-
Do you know who sells these cute goblin figurines?

They come in mixed packs but the shop is local to me so I was able to just get figures with caps on.
-
Thanks for the info, I went to the site there are quite a few interesting things. ;)
-
I've changed the thread title to reflect this being my assorted C17th and C18th skirmish related figures...
Having distracted myself recently with a few armed figures it was time to boost the civilian population of Altefritzenburg. Again...

Well done! For adding civilians.
Ratnik Miniatures also sells civilians for the 18th century, here are some pictures.
-
Indeed. Ratnik are rather splendid. I've got them all. And painted.
Those pics are excellent.
-
Yes, it's great that this range exists. ;)
-
Seems hard to get hold of now? Gaming Figures in the UK used to stock the metal ranges but haven't had them for a while...
-
They are supposed to be restocking at some point, but I didn't get a timeframe for that
-
That's good to know. I'd be unlikely to buy duplicate sets but I know a lot of people are wanting them.
It's always worth looking at the source prints he used. Just wish he'd been able to add to them.

nice brushwork :)
-
Some lovely work here :)
-
Lovely work on those civilians. I like the colour schemes that you've chosen.
-
Lovely work. How do the various manufacturers compare against each other in size and build? I've bought quite a few Midlam Miniatures civilians and witches. Ithink they are a great range.
-

I was struggling on what colours to use so I just looked at the painted versions on the Foundry website and based them on those.

There's quite a lot of variety. I use a few Midlam as well. They work fine with Foundry and Ratnik. I've got Blue Moon which are tall enough but slender. Minden are slim and smaller. Jackdaw are huge...
But I'm less concerned for civilians. Lots of individuals of all shapes and sizes.
-
Well done! For this new series of civilians. ;)

A couple more gents. Freddie and Voltaire. Eureka Miniatures.

Great stuff, who doesn't love to see dogs represented on the gaming table :)
-
Cynophobes ;)
Great thread, BTW. Inspirational.
-
The great thing with painting dogs is you can use the same ones with 15mm or 28mm.
Unlike the random back of 28mm cows I found this evening... No idea why I bought them...
-
Finally finished the horse holders and command for the Legion dismounted dragoons. All Eureka bar the Foundry foot officer.

I've been contemplating doing something similar but with late C16 Border Reivers.

Yeah. The rules are pretty open to different periods. I've got a load of C17th stuff to paint but my head is firmly in the C18th at the moment so that is more likely to get me a game...
-
Why not add a few more...

From the Perry AWI range...
-
Love the servant carrying the muskets for the ladies, such an expressive figure, I can almost feel her resentment and frustration!
-
I hadn't really viewed them like that. They were just the next three figures in the queue. But I like the idea!
-
And there's more... Various makes...

Minden miniatures...
-
That's a lovely vignette :-*
-
I'd had the Minden blacksmith set for years and never got round to it. Then in a batch of civilians I bought last year was one of the lad holding the horse. I couldn't think of an easy use/conversion for the figure and I was determined to paint ALL the civilians I had in that batch. So I thought I'd just paint the blacksmith and use the odd figure. Then I came across a bag of dismounted hussars and they just seemed to fit..
I've got a field forge to do as well...
A
-
In the Warlord FIW range I think
Ah yes, I thought she could pass for ECW but I'm not buying an £18 pack of figs just to get one that might be useful. Never mind.
-
I was lucky in that all these recent civilians were part of a big batch off ebay so a random selection of makes and part packs. A but frustrating in that when identifying them I looked at the paakcs they were from and really liked some of the other figures. But buying the packs would then give me a lot of duplicates...
But the civilian tally is quite large at the moment so I really don't need more...
-
The last four C18th civilians for now... Honest...

Nice Count :-* :-* :-*

Lovely work - Renegade were my first historical minis, and I wish they continued, somewhere!
It was finding them at my local shop and ECW by Warhammer Historical that broke me out of Warhammer - :o
-
I was lucky to grab a load via ebay last year at a bargain price. And along with Bloody and a few Bicorne I should be sorted with this project and have a good pile left over to sell on.
-
And a sergeant to lead them...

Hi! That building looks a fine piece. Can you tell me who prints it?
I'm looking for similar and a magistrates court and manor house in that style.

Sorry for delay...
The building is from this set: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1161859146/market-town-part-2-28-mm-stl
And was printed for me (in black) by Dawn Prints. https://dawnprints.co.uk/
If you contact via the website she will get back to you. Found her very good and helpful.
My only concern with the buildings was lack of chimneys. So I added my own...
Cheers

A fortunate purchase of a couple of packs on eBay led to the same guy saying he had a huge pile of ECW to shift. So I bought the lot! And he was local so I could collect. There was a lot of Renegade in there. :)

Great work on these vignettes
I often think about doing these type of figures, and sometimes even get figures to make them, but they nearly always get put on the back burner whilst I do figures that have a direct role in games :(
-
I like doing them. And I use them as a break from the grind of the big units.
