Title: William Munny, more of the cast added 15/11/24
Post by: THE CID on October 24, 2024, 10:33:26 AM
Just bought me a few Empress Wild Bunch range figures. This is their William Munny, Clint Eastwood from Unforgiven. The sculptor has captured the essence of Munny perfectly, but facially the sculpt was challenging, as the features are very subtle. This is the first one I’ve painted, the rest to follow after I get my Carpal Tunnel syndrome sorted next week, hopefully.

Nice brushwork. :)
I'm not a fan of that range of figures, there's just something about them that I don't like, maybe its the lack of definition or the poses, they look awkward to me.

Nicely done dappled gray.

Tend to agree that the figures, man more than horse but both really, lack some 'sharpness' of definition in the sculpting/posing.  But a painted figure ready for a game is always good so a victory in my mind from that perspective so paint on.

"You be William Munny, out of Missouri.  Killer of women and children..."

I think you did a nice job on him.

One of my absolute favourite westerns, and I'm paraphrasing the most poignant quote from it: "when you kill a man, you take everything he has, and everything he's ever going to have!" very powerful words.

Anyhow, very nice palette and brushwork, but I have to agree with the others on here. The miniatures look more than subtle, I would even go as far to say they are on the bland very non-detailed side. Horses for courses and all that, but none that I would personally buy.

The figure’s actually are better in the flesh, so to speak. But I do think they need a decent paint job to bring them to life. I have quite a few more to do and have to say some are way better that others in the range. The dismounted Rooster Cogburn and Doc Holiday are among the better ones.

A few more of the cast. I added a bit more hair on English Bob as he was lacking a ponytail.

Excellent figures for an excellent movie!!!

Makes me want to try my hand at making the cast of Goin South starring Jack Nicholson.
