Having an abundance of foam-board to hand, I've started another long postponed project - a gate-room inspired by the room seen in the SG-1 TV show. Was going to recycle a redundant cake board, but that has now been reclaimed, so a change of plan was required. Basically created a foam-board box to act as the gate room. Also, instead of painting, I'm printing out various concrete textures for the walls and floor.

That's looking promising! 8)
Are the gate and its ramp 3D printed?

Absolutely. Designed by Papsikels and printed by DragonTreeMinis via Etsy.
No way I could build something like that!!! lol

I like to use printed "textures" for interiors of buildings. I'll often use floors, printed doors, paintings on walls, etc.

The SGC Gateroom is coming along nicely. Only got some doors and the Stargate left to paint.

That's looking great indeed; a suitable homage to the original.
Will you do the rippling water effect on the gate, or will it be closed?

Thank you.
I've printed out various water effects and an Iris. I'll have a play around and see which ones look best.

Really looks the biz. Very nice work.

I'm calling it done. This is my completed proxy Stargate SG-1 Gate-room. All built with spare foam-board and scenic bits I had lying around (some for years). Printing out the textures used for the walls and floor was a big time saver in getting this completed.

Great stuff!! It looks the biz 8)
The textured surfaces work really well. A pet peeve of mine is the often very exaggerated textures people put on their terrain. I know why it's done like that, but they're so often way out of scale. And your printed concrete works exactly because it's in scale. i.e. there's no discernable relief in the concrete at this scale.
The minis are cool too. But why is Te'alc on a square base and the rest on rounds? (don't think we wouldn't notice :P ).

You spotted that.
Te'alc was one of the first 3D printed figures I bought. Despite being advertised as 28mm, he's noticeably taller than my Hasslefree 'not SG-1' figures. Not having a round flat base, I just used what I had available to make him less of a giant. I should get around to rebasing him at some point.

Well, to be fair; he always was a bit of a chunky boi, so I wouldn't sweat it. Now if it were Daniël...

There's chunky and there's chunky...

Trudat.
But the fact that Kev White's work is often quite dainty compared to heroic 28s doesn't help with integrating him.
Still, from the pictures, I can see he's on the big side, but not enough to distract. Apart from the base, he fits in really well, despite the size difference.
Fluff it away as him having at one time been selected to become a Goa'uld elite guard. Add to that a laced diet and stringent training regimen, and I can see a normal boy grow into a bulky brute in a couple of years (think the beginning of Conan) :)

Christopher Judge is a big fella, I'd not worry.
-
I had to go and look it up! ::)
Christopher Judge is 6' 3, Richard Dean Anderson is 6' 1 1/2, Michael Shanks is 6' and Amanda Tapping is 5'9.
I'll change the base to a round one to draw less attention to him on the table.

Looking great! My gf is a Stargate fan, and I showed it to her. She said, "niiiiice!" :-*
