Hope ok to post this here.
Hi all,
So Wargames Illustrated are running a survey with entry at the end to nominate a Hobby Hero, given the news this year I'm nominating Paul Sawyer and hope the rest of you might join me in doing that too, as its entirly possiblt this inaugral award will be the only chance for him to win.
Perhaps folks might want to share it around to generate support if you think it fair to do so, there after all so many hobby heroes, but this year seems the right thing to do for a doff of the cap to an inspirational guy for the modern wargaming scene.

Who's Paul Sawyer and what's he done?
Never heard of him.
Just tried to complete this survey but I had to enter an email address to be able to submit my responses.
Which I'm not going to do.
I know sometimes there's a prize draw for these kinds of things but if I don't want to be in a draw then I see no reason why they need an email address, beyond putting me on some annoying mailing list. I refuse to see myself as a marketing opportunity - I have more respect for myself than that.
So that's one they've missed out on one.
Nevermind.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this, and regrets if the email requirement put a hurdle on the final fence and was a bit too off putting but can understand your reasons, nobody wants spam.
Hopefully Harry's post with the link gave you an idea of why he is a respected member of the community for some of us, and taking the time to vote for him.
Regards.
Andy.

I wish they would put a notice in the form to say what they want the email address for.

I use my premier’s; she’s a horrible human being. Makes Farage look like a kitty-cat.

Giving bump so pops up as we head to the weekend.
Hope folks don't mind.

You could use a temporary email address, like one of these
Temp Mail - Disposable Temporary Email Addresses (https://temp-mail.org/)

Done; Fat Bloke's the man!
And I used my regular mail address, courtesy of my spam filter...

Just curious how new are you in TTRPG world of games?

Been playing RPGs for almost exactly 40 years!
A dyed in the wool Runequester.
But I can see from previous links that he is/was something to do with Games Workshop.
I stopped buying White Dwarf some time in the late 80s when it became an in-house magazine for Warhammer. And I've never liked Warhammer, so I guess I never encountered the name Paul Sawyer.
Not only that, but gaming is just a hobby and not something I assiduously follow or feel I have to keep up to date on all the gossip and news, so I have no real interest in the hobby celebrities. I just don't give a damn who owns what company or edits which magazine or any of that stuff.

to be fair, I've been in and out since the 80's, the only names that stick are sculptors and artists, I'd never heard of him until the post about his illness a few weeks back.

I’d never heard of him until this thread. I’ve been wargaming continually since 1971…

Who?
[Edited to add] I'd never heard of him, but having googled the name, that's a bloody awful roll of the dice. Poor bloke.
