Title: Name That Tank
Post by: Sterling Moose on 03 December 2009, 12:38:41 AM
Picked it up at the Fall In flea market for $5.  I'm thinking of ditching the 'modern' turret and modifying it to be a SPG, APC or something similar.  Any ideas as to who made it?

Isn't that the old Deadlands tank?

Excellent work Mancha.  Thanks.  A google search reveals this:

All that's missing is the cylindrical thingy near the smoke stack.

I thought that it was a good deal when you bought it. Now that I know its Deadlands I think that it is an even better deal!

By the way, I agree with you about replacing the turret.

or switching the canon for a MG - it's too big for the turret

otherwise - nice steamtank

A nice find, and a nice bargain. Yes, the turret doesn't look quite right. Maybe you could replace it with a cupola mounting a Gatling, or a rotary Hotchkiss.

Good find. I think I would bore out the whole center section and mount a pair of guns that fire promiscuously from the side sponson thingies.

Agreed, or make a large 2-piece hatch to cover the centre section - but definately add MGs to the side sponsons.

Yes, lots of guns are second only to lots of rivets  ;)

Any plans to beef up the undercarriage Sterlingmoose

Probably, it looks odd at the moment and would 'bottom out' when crossing any kind of obstacle.

I'm still undecided what to do once I remove the turret.  Boring out the hull to man the sponsons is not really practical, but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Plus the tracks would probably be put under so much strain they would snap  :(

Fairly easy to rectify though.

But your original request was to name that tank.  I think you should name if Nigel, or Fred.
