Title: What I painted in January 2025
Post by: zemjw on 04 January 2025, 04:28:19 PM
First show and tell of 2025!

A fortnight's holiday and no real plans meant there was a LOT of time for painting.

Mantic and Bifrost Centaurs that I built at the start of 2024 and put off painting until the end. Knocked them out in under two weeks, which shows a bit in the quality :(

Still working on my New Year's Resolution to not take such sucky photos...

More pirate bases.  20mm, 25mm, 30mm.

Realized I hadn't painted the coins falling out of the bags.  So used the Devil's Dandruff.  Thrice cursed glitter.  Just a tad, and it is already everywhere.

Started in December, but not completed until January, this was a gift for a good friend. The house is 3D printed from World Forge Miniatures. I think the figure is from there, as well, but I’m not 100% sure.

(Please let me know if I’m not posting in the right place, or not following Forum guidelines.)

Great starts guys!

My first output of 2025, from my Christmas gifts, not even sure how I want to base these, yet alone what I am going to actually use them for, but they are great minis from a seller on Etsy, Morgue Miniatures.

@306prairiegirl - Welcome.

That house is super and solved a problem for me as I've been looking for something like that for my fantasy squirrel figures to live in!

My first painting of 2025. A couple of space mechanics from Diehard Miniatures. Painted them up as the same character holding different equipment. Will be the chief engineer on my converted Rebel Transport ship.

Painted more minis from Diehard Miniatures. Two 'Elite Bounty Hunters' from their recent Kickstarter. They bear a passing resemblance to Paz Vizsla and the Armourer from 'The Mandalorian'.

Judge, Jury, MANDALORIAN!

"This is the Way" or "I am the LAW!"

Another Bounty Hunter from Diehard Miniatures with a paint scheme is inspired by the Judge Dredd uniform.

Four more survivors and a Refugee Car from Miniature Building Authority. The survivors are from (left to right) Battle Valor Games, Foundry, Copplestone, & Copplestone. I am pretty happy with how they came out. My favorite is Martina, who looks like a tough cookie!

(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5p03_v73xV8z8k8QXv-eDj3PladUPm3WqqKlO-jzRBFXIN2shaXYbdhjltI7PuPdc2xDWV3qN6nzAIDW0qAPyuSVigYoKKXlWdfI2fNlJiZ4ac2ydGxkgaOJe6s5qVJVvfZul708QUuJWMkQRyOzyBmq6nDr0q0vc1IhgF2g2D28R0rEXiaweS1tJnNs/w640-h594/RefugeeSurvivors_Martina.jpg)

The car took a LONG time to paint as I decided to look at each item and individually decide what base color to paint it (and dry brush). I think it turned out very nicely, though, and am glad I bought it. I will definitely put it on the tabletop the next time I run a zombie or post-apoc game...!

More miniatures from Diehard Miniatures and their recent Kickstarter. My last pair of Bounty Hunters. Colour scheme based on some cosplay pictures I found online.

Here’s the final batch of my Diehard Miniatures Kickstarter minis! First, we have a character that could pass as a younger Yoda or an older Grogu, and second, a great stand-in for Watto.

I posted my first group of Riflemen and my Gallows in other posts, but here’s some more skellys.  Wargames Atlantic this time, part of the Chariots box, the chariots and the cavalry should get completed this month too.

These are skirmishers with javelins for EKPS.  Super easy to paint.

Going back to my old days, painting up Acheson Creations resin buildings. Love, love, love their terrain and was sad when Craig went into semi-retirement! They are so easy to paint up and get ready for the tabletop. Black prime, wet brush, dry brush, wash, and you're done!

(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLCv4Kt0ixl1dXrGUx86ezcDPphXEnQ1oBD00rjKGO_IQtSDYLci3FC4fVwdt93sMowK-FQ7tDJ7j3ztp5iSmFsWBd7D4CIwKJKYEoruBJxnP6eTic6i3rIslRt3f9t1EZxo5sBMjBgQF1XRUxu6CoMub-6Qx4-qKkhngjDXZ5QLggoxwrDeqXwUTAJEY/w640-h240/AchesonMedvHuts_TwoBigFront.jpg)

Close up of two of the larger buildings. The three are intended for Medieval or Dark Age games, but could easily slide into a number of other periods. I picked them up on sale as a regional distributor was having a half off going out of business sale this past May at a convention. For more discussion of how I painted them, check out my Lead Legionaries blog:

A 28mm Tofu Bar from Miniature Building Authority. Yeah, I know...tofu bar?? It fits in well with my street markets and such. Resin terrain piece, with the bar and counters all as one piece and four separate stools.

(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW7dzATHu0_4kun5hPpyhNtkiqKOCpbFcqK5zeIhtO_1RepTcGyuUdLe7-G4rSMxZwV70aUYdSDeT-zkM6OLwh3dzqpLdTfDDM537chaoPeHNPs6svpFo1LK1iFQBlUhfuXPAZSv-qlx-RfQPKlJo-wDYtkKL77cdYS_uThVWLq5wSdlX-FTy2vyLgrRc/w640-h502/TofuBar_Up.jpg)

It WAS a lot of work painting the two dozen plus items on/behind the counter. I added the patterned paper for flooring, and then used micron pens to make the paver stone design.
For more discussion, check out my Lead Legionaries blog post:

That’s a very cool looking tofu kiosk (we’ll set aside for a moment the question of why anyone would visit a tofu kiosk…).

I painted a few more zombies over the past couple weeks. More pics are in my post-apocalypse thread: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=144280.15 (https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=144280.15)

Next up from the Wargames Atlantic box are the two chariots.  I based the ‘horses’ separately so that I can use them independently for cavalry, along with the other six horses that come in the box.

Some potential character choices for my upcoming semi-historical Sellswords & Spellslingers campaign.

(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBvWncG7NKHTIcDjbtHV2SlgKtrxLn6Gt932k269SXynPzExUgmiq_kWJ_-4gTln8-LLhE8Zu9FZHGlguHvP9oY2dK-ARzlPY-HgKMNmkw8qMOnxNNiRIw_nRqsjUqFLybi517D_PQ-XO8Bi8r-jVvuUSq6qS8mqrgOZhL_kbv_IU3eBKGWf8tEQFMc3Q/w640-h226/ArmArchers_All6Down.jpg)

Reviewing what figures I had I discovered that I have zero armored archers in my Dark Ages collection. I have four now...!  ;D

(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiF1U2nXCMHyqze58qmJk3ZUW-VTxuFkgHB7bupO-8ewOcM1qalnVC0ofLgIBJhyphenhyphenWCFP9m4ciEWOG_n22_YqPWsjVA6AiiesPieZJMiW7brkNBQFVR5Gxaj6c0ucFLdHduO3wz_0x_g_dlHxYJ19UOlCTnDPJ8LiPkpjZ8hQ2KA3nTmmZw2unKFqurBCk/w640-h282/ArmArchers_GroupA.jpg)

The guy on the left is my favorite. I'm sure it is not a coincidence that he resembles Mel Gibson's take on William Wallace in Braveheart... lol
