I'm very nearly 70 and reaching across a standard table is getting old (literally).
I'm very nearly 70 and sprawling games with sprawling rules are too much bother nowadays.
I'm very nearly 70 and (fortunately) have loads of hobbies so miniatures games need to be quick and satisfying to keep my failing attention span from getting out a board game, dog, book, film or brushes - or, more likely fritter away my remaining time butterflying around the internet.
I'm very nearly 70 and Billy No Mates (for miniatures gaming) so play solo which in itself is hard to get worked up about (no pressure you see and I need pressure to actually get results).
What to do.
So I bought a 12" Lazy Susan and a piece of MDF cut to 26" square.
Small footprint
I have loads of 24" square mats
Small game, less time = (hopefully) more fun
No faffing about, you're straight into the action
Spin it round - I don't even have to move
Even works with board games
It will hopefully get me more time playing with my toys
Simples
What to play
Warhammer Fantasy stats and basic rules are burned into my brain after so many years of osmosis - small skirmish with a blind draw activation fits the bill. No super powers to spoil the fun, just a basic types and an odd hero and boss with 2 wounds each. My Little Mordheim really.
Lasting Tales - I like these rules and they are designed as a solo/co-op game from the ground up.
Advanced Song of Blades - always works for me
Ramble off - here are a few pics of the set up with a few figures thrown in for luck.

I've set up, I've bragged about it so all I got to do now is play.....
I'm very nearly 70, did I tell you?
PS: Do you think I'm bothered about being nearly 70?

Interesting idea, I may steal it! Playing solo, I like the idea of using a smaller playing area.
-
This is a cool idea. When playing solo, I rarely can be bother to go to the other side of the table - but then I get a bit lost on which side’s turn it is. Rotating the gaming surface sounds like a good answer!
I like your table setup - nice and crowded with terrain.
Good work on nearly being 70. I think you might find if very like being in your late 60s ;)

That's an amazing idea, using the lazy susan. I happen to have an even larger one sitting downstairs very near my gaming table. Hmmm.... lol

I am 10 years behind you, so I know the feeling. 60 seems to be the point at which everything starts being referred to as "senior", which I'm not looking forward to :(
Great idea with the lazy susan, something I may look into, as my back is not happy stretching across a table (insert old/senior person icon)

Sounds like an elegant solution to a real problem.

That’s a cracking idea for our OHW games played over video, can just swing the table round when it’s my opponents turn…genius!
-
VERY NICE (thought I better shout as you may be getting close to 70) :D
I've a few years to go to catch up (less than two handfuls) and agree that it's a pain to stretch over big tables.
SoBH is a super game - one that's close and designed for small areas is https://www.relicblade.com/ (https://www.relicblade.com/)

what's Lasting Tales? never heard of that...
(other than a figment of a 70 year old brain wearing a bit thin)

A very good game that upset a lot of people through the Kickstarter campaign (sounds somewhat familiar). Understandably they were/are pretty pissed by the outcome or lack thereof.
I got the rules from DriveThru RPG
https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/392844/lasting-tales (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/392844/lasting-tales)
I think maybe the creators are probobly just as pissed with the production company as the backers.
It's a good system and there's a lot of stuff in those 264 pages ... and the demo rules are free.

Nice set up and a great idea to use the Lazy Susan.
-
Cool idea and your pictures look great, thanks for sharing!

Well that seems to work out a treat! Do you think the lazy susan could hold a heavier board or beefier scenery if you wanted it to?
Where are those minis from, by the by?

I got a cheap plastic 12" Lazy Susan from Amazon and yes it should work with more weight but a larger diameter or metal construction would be belt and braces.
The Adventurers are from Zombicide Black Plague (I think - could be Massive Darkness 1, I seem to have mixed them all up) and the Gnolls are from the Frostgrave plastic box set range.
I actually used the set up to play Sword Wierdos and it worked really well. It made moving the little chaps around a crowded board a piece of cake. Pretty chuffed really.

Gaming aside, what's it like for DIY Dim Sum/ Yum Cha?

I am just getting into Space Weirdos. Do you have a blog or AARs from your games...? It would be interesting to see how it plays out.
