Just looking around.

As soon as someone says move along, you know there will just be more and more and more people showing up.....

Ok, I'm going to join the spacecraft gang, mainly because I have always wanted a ship for my Five Parsecs crew. I'm a big fan of The Expanse so I'll be making it look like it suits that universe.
That's the plan anyway. I have never done this kind of build before and I'm still dubious that I'll even get past the planning stage.
-
I think I'm going to park here and watch along with the rest of the crowd...

Did I hear someone saying ship? I will be watching lol

I'll probably join you.

OK, kettle's just boiled, anyone want a cup of tea?

Black Tea for me...no sugar. :)

So, i got distracted away from the BSC by prepping for Stargrave (amongst other things). One of the scenarios involves a crashed spacecraft so I decided to whip one up using whatever was on hand. "Hang on" says me, it's still a vessel, albeit damaged. So, presenting my Crashed Spacecraft for the BSC 2025.
This build is never going to be a grand showcase of my modelling skills but rather a quick, cheap n cheerful bit of terrain with a design philosophy more akin to the Cat In The Hat than say, NASA. So, with my excuses out of the way, here are my current progress shots.

I like your thinking my friend.

Very solid start. I can now stop staring at the spot. lol lol lol
-
That is a cool looking bit of terrain sir.

Thanks chaps.

Nice to see another member of Club Spacething 2025 making progress! I l really like the tapered shape you got in the cardboard of the main (nose?) piece.
It might be a challenge along the smashed up edges, but perhaps use light cardstock or styrene to hide the corrugated cardboard edges?

Honestly, I was going to leave the edges of the wrecked end as is, in the name of "cheap and cheerful". I mean, who's to say that future tech doesn't involve corrugated metals? ;) Having said that, I'll probably dress up the nose edges with cardstock, at least.
-
Just glue some bits of wire into the corrugated edges.
Designers love to 'hide' cables in vessel walls. :D
-
Amazing for work in cardboard :-*

Thanks for the comments so far.
So, it's been a calendar month since the last update but I got things into gear over the weekend and have finally got the model to the painting stage. Thanks to has.been for the wires idea; I added wires and bent pipes into the model.

Looking good my friend. :)
-
Well, someone's not getting their insurance claim approved...
That's looking really good, especially with the primer on there. I especially love the hanging cables and the overhang; looking properly derelict :)
-
Very nice work and the wires and other bits do add to the model as a whole.
-
That looks great, especially that nosecone, the taper, rounded edges, and paneling really sell it as a chunk of something that used to be sleek and purposeful before Bad Things Happened.
The extra detail along the smashed edges works well.
Can't wait to see this painted and landscaped!
-
Thanks peeps!
-
I agree with those before me - the wires and cables really add to the piece.
-
Cheers Codsticker.
Aaand photo submitted.

The model was the centrepiece for the first game in our Stargrave campaign. Salvage Crew was the scenario.

That's a beautiful piece and it fits in great with your other terrain.

Indeed. The cohesion is really beautiful, really makes the table

Thanks chaps

That certainly fits right in. Very well done.
