Can anyone point me to a kit or model of a typical UK garage/petrol station of the 30’s? Or something close that could be adapted?
Thanks
Doug

I made one from bits...but in 54mm! I assume you want 28mm? I just googled for photos and took it from there. Good luck anyway

Gunbird's STALKER build used one of the gangs of Rome mdf kits from Sarissa for workshops which worked brilliantly.

I have the Warbases one which is a nice little model.

There is also the pre-painted one from Micro Arts Studio.

Looks like a house with pumps?

That looks great

This is the best off-the-shelf suggestion.

Some suggestions if you want the workshop/ garage next to the residence type approach.

Doug,
I second Carlos' recommendation of
https://patrickminiatures.de/products/normandy-french-farmhouse-tabletop-wargaming-ww2-terrain-proxy-3d-printed-miniature-for-bolt-action-chain-of-command-flames-of-war
or another one of patrickminiatures 3D prints
Here is my Chinese gas station that I used one of his 3D prints for with First Corps pumps and cabinet. I can't remember where I got the barrels. The turn off is scratch built.

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions - much appreciated. In the end, I stuck with the Warbases one - it fits how I imagine the 30’s garage.

Yes - these are essential additions, the pumps, obviously but the oil bin is a must as well.

Good idea, I’ll check that also.
Thanks again for the input.

Keith,
Your pumps are still an inspiration! :-*

I've got this one, but can't for the life of me remember who makes it, I thought it may be Blotz, but can't see it on their website. Perhaps somebody will recognise it (wriggly tin roof was my addition):

Definitely second Lon's observation ,on Keith's tweaking of the domes on the pumps. As they look nicer than my own.
As for buildings its more a case of deciding on the storytelling aspect of your Garage/ Petrol station as this effect both the type of building you use and the location of the pumps themselves
If your after representing an early and or Rural station. Then these look absolutely nothing like a petrol station. As mentioned they look more like a house. The easiest building to use for this is a building with an arch under a portion of the building which is fenced off and enclosed with a wooden wall/gate . Rather than just a 'house'
The Pumps were often placed against the front of the building and at the edge of a road. There are no forecourts or parking bays . It's literally building on a curb with the pumps squeezed in-between the two.( This is the most common format from the twenties onwards. In fact you can still roll through a few villages today and come across this format ( not in use but still institute.) especially in areas where it's down to single lane roads.
The next evolution is the moving of the 'diesel' pump to the rear or futher away from the 'home' part of the site due to the fumes of both the fuel and the vehicles that used it.
At the same time you see the proliferation of buildings for maintenance of vehicles ( the garage proper) as in the picture already posted in the thread. The main pumps are either slightly set back from the road and near the new garage building or still near the house. As it's an evolution rather than an instant build.
The forecourt proper turns up in the mid thirties as cars become more and more popular and allows for multiple cars to be fueled at the same time.
So you can look at framing your design as a 'new' build ,or something that's evolved over two generations.
But... Thats nerdy and it's how I approach a build. lol
The best way to represent a garage is to represent the aesthetic you visualise when it's mentioned to you as a 30's garage.
The simplest way to represent a garage is to use what ever buildings you already own and put your petrol pumps on their own separate base and place them Infront of any building you have. When you want to represent a garage.

I've got this one too and added a corrugated roof. It came from the bay of fleas but I can't remember for the life of me who the manufacturer was.

Had a good look but can't find the previous garage but I did find this, needs an extra sign in English but looks the part. Not stupidly expensive either if its as good as the photos.
Hope this helps

I'm glad everyone is sharing what they have, these all give me ideas for more city building.

I've found my original purchase on ebay (in 2019) from a seller called mango_terrain. Unfortunately it looks like they have now ceased trading on ebay. They have a shop on Etsy, but are not currently trading there either.
It's also shown in this post on here: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=116662.0

The Micro Art Studio one is pretty good, done a review on my blog. Fully pre-painted, with removable roofs and detailed interior, just weathered it a bit with a single color paint. https://wargameterrain.blogspot.com/2022/07/micro-art-studio-prepainted-multicolor.html?m=1

That's the one! It's all coming back to me now. . . ..

If you have access to a 3d printer, Windham Graves has recently released a gas station with options for 1920s or 1930s pumps. He has a patreon at https://www.patreon.com/c/WGraves/home (https://www.patreon.com/c/WGraves/home)
