Title: Tap's Turnip 28
Post by: Spinal Tap on 01 February 2025, 10:05:17 AM
Inspired by Freddy's work on Turnip 28 I am starting my own.

I am placing it in Fantasy because although it's set in a post apocalyptic world 800 years in the future with Napoleonic weapons, what I envisage will be very much fantasy.

Here are my Fodder for Hurdy Gurdy's Mushroom Men; I am in the process of sculpting the Toff, Hurdy Gurdy, at present.

I just wrote in the other topic that I can not wait to see your work, may all of my wishes be fulfilled this fast.
You did a really great job on them, the mushrooms look great on their backpacks!

The tubers and tufts look great Tap. I'm keen to make some turnip figures myself, they look so fun and silly.

Commenting to encourage and to keep up-to-date with all the wonderful creations to come.

Spore attack - great idea.

I have tried twice to use oil paints with mixed/poor results but really think some oils and enamels will add to the Turnip look.

I have applied some colours in acrylic and added a coat of varnish in preparation of painting the remaining details in oils.

Thank you both, should have the oils on in a few days, then however long to dry before a final oil wash.

Cheers guys.

The fodder now have all their base coats done and have entered their ugly stage. I've hidden them out of eyesight until the oils dry and will post then once oil washes and highlights are done.

I started sculpting Hurdy Gurdy then saw a TV show about microscopic creatures, one of which, the Tardigrade, is reputed as being able to survive pretty much everything, which got me thinking it could be a brilliant beast for Turnip.

Hence I give you Hurdy Gurdy's Tardy Grady and the beginnings of Hurdy himself.

Wow, what fun looking guys! And they don't take up much room. Have you thought about attaching a towed stool to the giant tardigrade? My seal Liam really likes them too. That's it, that's all I've got.

TLDR (or TBDL, 'too bad didn't laugh'): Loverly.
