Inspired by the reports of various esteemed gentlemen on this forum, i picked up a copy of ZombieRV. Lacking any modern zombies, I engaged in a little timeslip, resetting Zombie RV into the 1870s. First time with these rules and a lot of fun https://grahamsgaming.blogspot.com/2025/02/zombie-stagecoach.html

Good to see reskins are painless for those with little modern terrain.
It looks a neat little game from what I've seen, am tempted to try in fantasy/medieval as that's where most of my collection lies.

Nice idea - it shows what a flexible genre this is. An enjoyable report of your game and I’m interested to see your proposed "house rules" we’ve already come up with a few to cover some aspects which aren’t quite clear or we’d like to change slightly.
Keep up the good work - the zombie chaos the better.

Quite fun looking — better gaming brought to you by pencils and margins!

I'll stick our ideas in this thread once I have make sense of last night's pencil scrawling and would be interested to see you own ideas. I certainly think there were too many zombies, I'd painted about 30 up so far, and we ran out of models in both games!

I got to the point were I was thinking I may have to recycle the destroyed zombies because so/ many were required. I must make a proper note of the various things we clarified/modified. Not much - just a few elements we felt needed looking at. Considering how easy the game is to play, I thought Dave did a pretty sound job with the rules on the whole.
It does seem that running out of ammo happens disproportionately often but that’s probably an incorrect perception based on frustration :) We did specify that a shotgun only runs out of ammo if a 1 is rolled when testing for the first potential casualty. Because shotguns may cause multiple casualties a shooting roll has to be made for each, even though the gun has only fired once. We reckoned that if the first roll isn’t a 1, the gun has definitely fired so subsequent rolls of 1 for that shot can be ignored - they’re just a miss.

Good point with the shotgun. We also found running out of ammo seemed to happen too often (all three characters with guns suffered this in one game). I am not sure if the problem is the ease of running out of ammo or the lack or reloads. We found some ammo on the pre-game "What Happened..." roll or else we would have had nothing at all. Perhaps there just needs to be more "stuff".
Also, it may be part of the problem was running a novice gang. Looking at the rules, all survivors of a scenario get a free "Supply" each, which gives them one reroll in the next game. Good for avoiding a wound becoming a kill, or running out of ammo so often. That would have made a huge difference.

What a great fun take on this ruleset! It definitely seems to have sparked a lot of interest from people on this forum, so well done to Mr Bezio for having written these rules.

Legionnaire.

On the number of zombie figures, we used around 50 zombie miniatures in yesterday's game!
Just read the AAR. It looks like you had a fun game, with the same problems we did. OOA is a nasty result.

Great report. Way to use the rules in another time period. Well done!

Great minds obviously think alike... :D lol That is exactly what I did in my games.
Great report, Graham, and ingenious idea to transition it into the Wild West. Zombie Stagecoach lol Perfect!!

Just nice to be a tiny part of giving back to the people and hobby that have given me so much. 🙂
