I painted up some 10mm Chinese from the PVA for the Korean War. The figures are Pendraken and based for Five Core Company Command. Each base represents a section, heavy weapon, or an attachment. I have enough for a strengthened company with heavy weapons support. The standard was made using a photograph of a Chinese PVA flag for the 38th Army. The tank is a Japanese Type 95 Ha Go with Chinese markings.

Awesome looking Chinese! Canada killed a lot of them during Korea, for example at the Battle of Kapyong lol
-
Australians killed even more of them.... at the same Battle of Kapyong. Guess that's why the Royal Australian Regiment and the PPCLI are affiliated regiments. :)
They killed so many it not only became a battle honour but they named one of the cadet companies at RMC after it. Rorke's Drift but with Brens, Owen Guns and buckets of artillery, mostly Kiwi as it happens.
Nice looking units. Small scale is probably the best way to do Korea. Human waves really need masses of troops.

Yep, the Canadians and Australians held Kapyong.
I have had occasion to partake in the officer’s mess of the PPCLI when Kapyong Barracks was still in Winnipeg. Good times!

Fantastic work

Nice work on those.
It is always interesting to hear about the other participants in the UN action.

Thanks for the kind words. In truth, I don't know much about the Korean War and never intended to wargame it. I was at a convention in Scotland that Pendraken was attending and wanted to buy some army packs but didn't know what to get.
I always like the Chinese winter uniforms (going back to see them illustrated in a Sgt. Rock comic book as a little kid) so I picked up army packs of the Chinese and Americans. I figured it would be a good opportunity to try my hand at snowy bases.
Need to paint up the Americans and some dedicated scenery but look forward to getting in some games with them.

I have a mountain of resources on Canadian actions during Korea. Most of them are unpublished that I scanned when I was in the archives of the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). I have full battle diaries, unpublished journals, photographs, and tons of photos of artefacts.
The 25th Canadian Infantry Brigade was there from the beginning of the UN mandate.
Don’t do the usual US thing - go with the Canadian perspective. It’s FAAAAAR more interesting!

Yes, look outside the box. Only in the Korean War do you get Michael Caine, AKA Maurice Micklewhite, in a supporting role but very active role as part of the Royal Fusiliers. Not sure if he ever told his platoon 'not to blow the bloody doors off' or remarked to a Chinese opponent that 'he was a big man but out of shape and that for me this is a full time job'. ;)
