I decided to put my wasted life of reading Flashman novels and watching black powder revolver and sabre videos on YT to a practical purpose and I have authored a set of RPG / small skirmish rules for the period 1855 - 1865.
The rules are called "Carbine, Colt & Tulwar".
The rules allow the gamer to create his own characters and take them through detailed scenarios with sword duels and pistol shoot outs.
There are specifics about how to create your character's background and enhance his - or her - skills.
And there are very detailed and specific rules about firearm types and their positive and negative characteristics. (If you ever wanted a rule set that allowed you to choose between an Adams or a Colt revolver for your hero and emphasized their respective abilities, this is the set for you!)
I am doing final proof readings of the playtest draft and would love to get some feedback on the set. The rules are quite hefty - over 80 pages. But I think they "put you in the middle of the action" as well or better than any set I have come across.
Please DM me or put your email in the comments and I will email the set out in a few days when I have fussed over the final proof enough to feel happy to let others read it!
Thanks!

The rules also cover ACW scenarios, French Intervention in Mexico and Victorian civilian shootouts in North America and Europe and can be updated to the 1880's and back dated to the 1830's and 1840's.

Sounds great, count me in! I'll DM you with my email.
How many figures per side for a typical game?
Best,
Will

I suggested 4 main characters and 4 - 8 rank and file to get in the way on each side. And maybe a damsel in distress to rescue.
