Title: DBN, bigger script, smaller miniatures.
Post by: Chillyray on February 28, 2025, 04:13:54 PM
DBN is probably my favourite Napoleonic rule set. As I mostly play solo, it works well when playing both sides. I bought my printed set from dbnwargaming a while ago and always found the typeface quite small and dense. My solution, to make the rules easier to use, was to cut each A4 page into two A5 pages and get them enlarged to A4 again in my local office shop. I made my new cover and had it rebound. I included the army lists and I now find the rules a lot easier to use. Alex, from DBN wargaming did not mind me sharing this idea. Like Big Lee (another great source of inspiration), I am using the warlord epic scale miniatures to make up my DBN armies. I have been painting up some of their Prussians as Russians and they work very well. I removed the ulhans pennants and did a head swap for cosacks, and cut some tiny cereal box squares to make czapkas for my Russian lancers. For anyone starting Napoleonics, the small armies used in DBN and the small epic figures is a winning combination! Now if I could just roll a few sixes! Here are some photos.

Wow, there is great detail on that figure for it being so small.
