I have reviewed Dr James O’Neill’s new book from Helion. Titled The Nine Years War 1593-1603 part 1. Sub titled The ascendancy of Irish arms and the road to the Yellow Ford, 1593-198 it deals with the Irish Military Revolution and the Campaigns of the Irish Lords against Elizabeth Tudor.
If you are interested in the Nine Years War this one is a must. If your generally interested in the period there is much here to ponder.
Here is a link should you wish to know more.

OB, thanks for the positive recommendation. As I find some Helion a bit hit-or-miss so always good to get a non-partisan view. Not quite my period but I probably won't be able to resist it.

You are most welcome I'm sure.
Yes, Helion can be very hit and miss. I have had some good ones and two absolute turkeys. This one is very good content and proof reading, the whole nine yards. Good battle maps and nice colour illustrations of the soldiers. The author is the leading authority on the conflict.

To be honest when you named the illustrator and praised the maps that sold the book to me.
