Just got my newest issue of "Wargames Soldiers and Strategy" magazine. In it there is a Peter Pig advertisement which mentions the "PBI" rules for WW2. Any thoughts on the rules, especially in regard to the "gridded" system?
Thank you, in advance.

Never played it myself but Alex of Storm of Steel fame does have it as a favourite. Maybe check out some of his videos on it?

Just bear in mind a "new" edition has recently been released PBI 2025. There are some youtube videos covering aspects of the game linked from the PBI rules mechanics webpage: https://www.peterpig.co.uk/videos%20of%20game%20mechanisms.html
Best wishes,
Martin

Haven't tried the 2025 edition but often played the previous ones.
The gridded system doesn't take long to get used to.
We used to use the rules at a school club, helped eliminate any bickering over line of sight, measuring ranges etc.
If a square has any terrain in it then troops are in cover. Interestingly it takes more effort to move out of cover than it takes to move in (troops are reluctant to give up a good position).
The grids we used were not intrusive - just small crosses marked on the cloth to show where the corners of each square were. Some people hardly noticed we were using grids.
There used to be a free basic downloadable set to try out the basics of the rules (not sure if there still is)
