That looks splendid :)
Coincidentally, I also have that Planes not C-119 and it's perfect for tabletop games. Love the camo you applied too 8)

Now, THAT'S a period you don't often see played -- at least here in the U.S. The figs and scenery looked great. I made a comment on your blog about XR! -- let me know what you think. I'm curious what irks you about XR!... :D

I agree with Mike's comment on your blog about ignoring the "activation fail = turn over" mechanic. It's just turn over for that unit. The rest can activate as normal.
Personally, as frustrating as it can be sometimes, I like systems with rules that result in units either A. not doing what you want all the time, or B. Not doing it precisely when you wanted them to do it. Works that way in real battles...
Great report, though. It looked good.

Replaying the game tonight using Bolt Action.Watch this space

That will be an interesting comparison. I like the activation mechanic in Bolt Action and will be curious to hear how it gives a different game than Xenos.

Stupid Question - why Xenos Rampant as opposed to any of the other "Rampants"?
Are there useful mechanics for "modern times"?

There are a literal ton of possible upgrades to customize your units. More than the other books, especially when you toss in all the "Xenos" (alien) abilities to add to units. For example, in our recent XR! game, the GM gave "Special Insertion" to our VC units so they could pop up via tunnels and spider holes.
Another difference is harassing fire has the potential to have an effect. In most of the other Rampant games, you take a morale (Courage) check when you lose a figure. In XR!, you take one whenever you take a hit. So, let's say you have an Armor 2, normally you lose figures in multiples of two. One hit would have no effect in the other sets, I believe. However, 1 hit (but no figure removal) would cause a Courage check in XR!
