Post by: Harry Faversham on 26 March 2025, 08:02:54 AM: Once saw a Mustang belly land, in a field across the motorway, opposite Duxford IWM. Engine conked out and down he went. Thing wot was really impressive, the groove in the corn, was only thirty yard long.
Those Ace Warbird pilots are an impressive bunch!

Post by: bluewillow on 26 March 2025, 08:38:43 AM: I based it on a photo of Mustang near Le Mans that missed the airfield PSP and hit the muddy ground. I wanted a red tail though as I watched the movie again two weeks ago. The trouble is with watching films gave me the excuse to purchase another two mustang kits for my Birthday. Went wild and purchased the 1/72 Eduard detail kit and resin interior, and decal pack for a display model.

What a experience, I have not sat in a mustang but do have cockpit pieces from one in my collection of aviation bits.

No, not split, but the Edaurd kit I purchased has three different split canopies I may replace this one

I agree, if you can replace it with an open canopy, it would look much better. Few pilots crash land and then close the canopy after them.*

* The ones that do are incredibly tidy and fastidious. :)
