Post by: Atelier Robin on 27 March 2025, 05:07:21 PM
Would someone be kind enough to let me know the base sizes for King and Parliament in 28mm please.

Thanks
Rob

Rob, assuming you are referring to Simon Miller's "For King and Parliament" the answer is that there is not set base size. The key is the size of the grid you choose for your table. Units have to fit inside the grid.

I guess you might want bigger units for "large units" and smaller ones for units such as "forlorn hopes".

I mainly base my infantry regiments as 17 figure vignettes and cavalry in 4-5 man regiments.

A 6" grid is common for use on 6'x4' tables. But if you have space for a bigger grid - you can get bigger and more impressive units.

Or you could go with a small grid and dinky little units

Rob, its as Fred says. My units are 28mm figures sized/based for a 15cm grid. You can have bigger units in a smaller figure scale or a smaller grid.  I looked at 6, 10 and 15mm before a mate convinced me to go 28mm as he already had some. In hindsight I should probably have gone 15mm as 28mm pikemen are a pain! I've attached a photo of two of my units.

Hi Rob, If you PM me with your email, I can advise and perhaps even send you some sample bases. Cheers, Simon

In anticipation of a Thirty Years War option I am revamping my Saxons. Currently on 40x 40 mm bases so there is a lot of flexibility. Artillery and Cavalry will be the problem. Any recommendations>

cheers

I tried PM'ing BRB but could not read the squiggly thing so can't send messages!

Rob, you could buy some movement trays that can accomodate 40 x 40mm bases and have several bases per unit. I've done that for my ECW Scots which were originally based for Warlord's "Pike and Shotte" rules.
