Title: Bob's Ongoing Thread of Not-Star Wars Buffoonery - update - Stormclones!
Post by: JollyBob on 10 April 2025, 08:00:34 PM
This is a project I've been working on for some years now. It's never really been a main focus, but every now and then I'll pick up a few figures and paint them just for fun.

Only now it seems I've amassed quite a lot of them, so...

It's all SW adjacent, no really identifiable characters yet, more "in-universe" than aligned with any if the prequel/main/sequel eras.

Anyway, I'll be updating the thread as and when I photograph more stuff from the box, but to get started, all the Jedi I have collected so far.

Pic 1: The Family. Loosed modeled on my own but with an extra child...
Pic 2: Random battle poses. Yes, that's an Ewok.
Pic 3: Humanoid Jedi.
Pic 4: Some kind of winged monkey with a gun, and a trainee with a green chimp in his backpack.
Pic 5: Frog dude and a goddam Predator!

Hope you like, sorry if the pictures suck, all comments gratefully received.

JB  :)

lovely PJs - a nice set.

I've got a few of those not-jedi ewoks lying around...just waiting for a poor unsuspecting Imperial player  lol

Great stuff sir! One thing I liked about one of the recent animated series (visions?) was that whilst the Star Wars universe is pretty detailed and developed everyone’s take can be slightly different - yet you still know that the chap (of either sex) in the white armour is a Stormtrooper etc. I really like the Jed’ator - fits into the world really well.

Thanks Akky, I'd love to see yours too.

BALM - Jedator! Yes! Can't believe I missed that one!  lol

A few more, will try to get more up over the weekend but for now... Sith!

Pic 1: Emperor and Dwarf Vader having a domestic.
Pic 2: Miscellaneous apprentices.
Pic 3: Not-Ventriss and Darth Stripe
Pic 4: Sith Agent and some kind of probe droid or assassin droid, I dunno, I just cobbled some bits together.

Nice work, can't think of a more involved comment at the moment.

But;
Pic 1: Emperor and Dwarf Vader having a domestic.
I'm assuming it's because the Emperor cut his leg off for the lols?

Great collection of figs JollyBob, some nice colour schemes too. I did that Roguestars assasin with purpleskin, but I like yours with the pale skin much more.

I think I recognise the Emperor from Heresy, is that right?

Also, the two armored Jedi, I know I've seen them online, but I can't remember where. Your PJs have made me want to pick them up, good work on the faces.

@HubbaBubba - thanks! The Emperor is from Heresy, yes, and the two Jedi (white armour and red armour) are from Alternative Armies, they come in a set with the blue jedi with the two sabers and the guy in the green face mask.
They are from the Ganesha Games range.

What a great set of figures - I do like the SW look to them, without them being direct movie characters.

A couple more pics, the first recognisable characters and some scruffy looking mercenaries.

Pic 1: Father and son
Pic 2: Triceraton and pal
Pic 3: Pterry Daktyl and some shark dude

Edited for better pictures.

So after the Battle of Endor, why wouldn't some of those vicious little murder-teddies join in hunting down the Imperial remnant?

Pic 1: Sarge, sniper and trooper.
Pic 2: Heavy and two more troopers.

All 3D printed from Etsy.

Thankfully I didn't have to, the  Heresy Miniatures D06 kit is modular so it can be configured several different ways.

Good spot though, didn't think it was that obvious!  lol

So with a new series of Andor underway, I thought it was time to show my Corporate Security troops.

These are Wargames Atlantic Digital sculpts, obviously inspired by Andor's goons, but mine have come out a bit more Bespin than Pre-Mor. Also slightly shiny under the lights which they aren't in real life.
Anyway.

Pic 1: Lieutenant Smugg, databot and Sargeant Fat-Trev.
Pic 2: Expendable mooks.
Pic 3: More mooks. They don't need names, they will die soon.
Pic 4: Corpo Cop Car!
Pic 5: As above but with punchable bastard for scale.

Good stuff in this thread!

Sorry to be so late to the thread, but was searching to be sure it was mentioned.

I wasn't aware that they'd been available; as TSR(WotC?) repurposed them as deck hands for Spelljammer, I picked up some Hadozee(SP?) to convert.

SO much history in the figs. Fortunately, I missed K9's body until the explanation was given.

I could have had a right shock!

And tonight we have the crappest bad guys in the whole saga, the Separatist Battledroids.

These are the official SW Legion figs, as I wanted them to be slightly taller than the regular human sized figures, to give them some of the menace they lacked in the movies. Well, the B2s are 3D prints, but same scale.

Pic 1: The Jedi-killer his own damn self.
Pic 2: What's better than one tactical droid? Another one with a big gun!
Pic 3: Lazerzooka, NCO, Sniper.
Pic 4: First battle squad.
Pic 5: Second battle squad.
Pic 6: Super battle droids! Well, super shiny at least.
Pic 7: Droideka in expanded and rollie forms.

Well they do seem to use individual accuracy rather than a mass volley of shooting! Shame though - I do like them droid commando's.  :)

Essentially, yes. I always picture the droid army as faceless, relentless masses of troops, absorbing fire by sheer weight of numbers. Yes, some are heavier but they all just grind forwards as one.
Sneaky commando droids just feel out of place in my own private head-canon.

They do look cool though....

Right then. Bear with me.

The idea was to have some generic armoured troops that could serve as either Clones or Stormtroopers depending on what era of SW I felt like playing in.

The Wargames Atlantic Eisenkern fit the bill for me. I've used the male and female troopers and mixed some bits in from other ranges for some of the specialists.

Pic 1: Commander and NCOs
Pic 2: Rocketeer and Sniper
Pic 3: Squad support weapons

Going back to the Separitist battle droid's for a moment - it's interesting that the Clone War wasn't the end of the battle droids: ST super tactical droids and T series tactical droids sometimes refused the shutdown order, sometimes not relaying it, thinking it was a Republican trick so there might be pockets of battle droids still working in odd corners of the galaxy - oddly enough a few T or ST models ended up working with the rebellion. Of the ones that did shut down, some B1's and B2's were reprogrammed as labour droids and the Empire used huge numbers of B2's as training/target droids for Stormtrooper training. Dwarf Spider droids were used (especially in the rim) in Stormtrooper units as fire support droids, whilst Octuparra droids carried on being built by the Ubese for themselves and the E4 Baron droids carried on being built for sale as security/police droids. The Colicoid droideka's and annihilator droids carried on being built on Colla IV but, as can be seen in The Book of Boba Fett, the Pike Syndicate appears to have got their hands on some annhiliator droids (at least). Commando droids mostly shut down and were got rid of after the Clone War until Darth Vader, in need of an instant army, took over a factory to produce them - several ended up in various parts of the galaxy. So it wouldn't be out of place to have some seperatist droids mixed in with Imperials, Imperial Remnants or Rebels in the later eras.

Also there must be local governments who took over, reactivated and kept them.

Also there must be local governments who took over, reactivated and kept them.
we see this on The Bad Batch season 2, on the world of Desix. the local governor reactivated the seperatist droids after the shutdown order, since the world was a member of the confederacy. the droids were used to oppose takeover by the Empire, though unsuccessfully.

we also see it happen after the empire on Plazir-15 in The Mandolorian, where a locals used reprogrammed battledroids as a labor force.

we've also seen single or small numbers of battledroids reprogrammed by private individuals, usually for use as bodyguards.

It was also an episode of Rebels as well - the one where they got hold of a Sheathipede as a replacement shuttle and, as I mentioned, the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett. I got quite a lot of information out of the New Essential Guide to Droids as well, and the Wookiepedia entries for the Tactical and Commando droids.
There does seem to be a lot of reprogramming of Battle Droids going on in the wider galaxy!

I am not that big expert of SW lore, but yes, exactly, it is hard to imagine that in a fragmented and violent yet technically advanced world like Star Wars no one utilized those widespread battle droid designs which were basically just left where they got the switchoff message. Especially that maybe some of those 6 million cultures C3PO speaks the language of, some might be physically or even culturally unfit for raising an army among themselves.
In these cases I would give them new paintjobs, or at least some distinctive new markings over their original separatist livery though. Or heavy weathering in case the new owner is not the caring type.
