Title: Can you suggest Fantasy wagon drivers?
Post by: Mad Lord Snapcase on 22 April 2025, 04:18:32 PM
As the title suggest, I'm after some wagon drivers and passengers for a Fantasy setting. If you can help with some links, I would be very grateful, thanks. 28mm for preference.

There appear to be at least a couple on ebay, resin printed ones - wagon plus driver, but no passengers that I could see.
What are you looking for, specifically? Would medieval ones do, or be a basis for conversions?

I think mediaeval ones would do, I think wagon drivers would be fairly generic. Mediaeval or fantasy, then, please?

Warbases have a range - the dark ages sets should work, also the crusades & roman ones, and maybe some from the other sets with a bit of tweaking.

If you're up for a bit of gentle kitbashing, I'd maybe look at the Victrix Celtic chariot. The sprue comes with a couple of driver options (so you could still use the chariot), and the drivers have separate heads, making fantasy conversions virtually effortless (if you want a non-human driver).

You can buy the chariot sprues individually on eBay:

Sorry Hobgoblin, I don't think your 2nd driver is that - I think there's 1 driver figure and a figure to run out along the shaft pole between the horses, as some Celts were wont to do. I like those standing figures though, might have to pick some up.

Hi Rick,

No - he is a driver option, with a foot braced against the yoke. You can see him on the left here:

Perry Miniatures have various options, including these, but they come with wagons included:

Front Rank do this pack:

Eureka has this lovely pack including some seated medieval folk, although it is very expensive if you are only after a few figures:

I think Mirliton also do some seated figures, but I think they are again in an expensive diorama set only

Sally 4th do a pack of 6 seated medieval types as well as a couple of packs of Roman types which might just do in a pinch.

Many thanks all. I think I am going to go with the Warbases option. Cheers!
