Hey all, starting a brand new pair of Wars of the Roses armies.
Here’s the first few in the blue/white livery, not decided whether they’re Yorkist, Lancastrian or neither yet haha!
Starting off with what I’m imagining to be a mercenary captain, the lighting is a bit rubbish but he wears gold armour:

He’s accompanied by some Men at Arms:

Here they are together:

And a cannon for good measure:

Off to a great start.

Seconded! Love the blue and white as well, very striking.

Haszaa! They look great.
-
Excellent work, they look great! That green of the tufts really add some extra life to the lads. They came out great. The cavalry captain is particular cool, who makes that fig, Perry?
-
Thanks!
Yeah the cavalry Captain is a plastic Perry Miniatures mounted Man at Arms :)
-
Some lovely painting there, have to restart my mojo for some WOTR painting having seen these!

Nice work. 8)

Thanks for the kind responses! It definitely helps to keep motivated with the project :)
Here’s an Artillery Arc of Fire template

Wow, nice work! I have to play around with that box some day for sure.
-
Here are four "Attendants". Attendants in my rules set accompany the Characters (such as Army Leaders and Captains) to extend their ability to keep their men from fleeing the field, while also laying down their lives before the Character they are accompanying takes any wounds.
( removed pics as the models are being repainted :) )

Battle Report 1 – The Attack on Wooldale
This is part of a solo campaign I have begun. The Red and Black liveried forces under Richard Firth are attacking the village of Wooldale, defended by the Blue and White liveried forces under Anthony Evans.
* * * * *
Part One – The Opening Engagement
(https://i.ibb.co/8Lgw6ssh/IMG-3532.jpg) (https://ibb.co/YFBSpQQr)
(https://i.ibb.co/3JXPc0H/IMG-3533.jpg) (https://ibb.co/pmDkd3p)
Firth's men march along the road from the south, having left Oakhurst that morning.
Evans' men, having rested in Middleslea, left the road that enters Wooldale from the East to spread out across the field to the north of the Village.
(https://i.ibb.co/F4SpTXR5/IMG-3534.jpg) (https://ibb.co/jkctXzny)
A small group of Evans' archers look out at their enemy advancing toward the village.
(https://i.ibb.co/1G93wvPH/IMG-3536.jpg) (https://ibb.co/LdCM2kc4)
Cannon fire from both sides rings in the ears of the men as they march toward their enemy.
(https://i.ibb.co/FqqXHz9x/IMG-3537.jpg) (https://ibb.co/yBBp4qDf)
(https://i.ibb.co/XxtHHZBM/IMG-3535.jpg) (https://ibb.co/yFq22nT7)
Both armies press onto the centre of the village, with Firth's cavalry being denied the open ground in which to manoeuvre if they are to avoid being shot by the enemy's cannon and archers.
(https://i.ibb.co/ks3ckHcN/IMG-3542.jpg) (https://ibb.co/pBWXG0XY)
A small body of Firth's Men at Arms head into a wooded area to avoid the worst of the archery duel, while advancing upon their enemy.

Part Two – The Melee
(https://i.ibb.co/PGwCqT2F/IMG-3544.jpg) (https://ibb.co/s9y385Tb)
(https://i.ibb.co/hxmSPr8z/IMG-3543.jpg) (https://ibb.co/FkDFSc7T)
Having rushed through the village, Evans' Men at Arms push toward Firth's cavalry, who quickly wheel away from them, riding through the village to harass Evans' archers. Evans' Billmen are not far behind their heavily-armoured comrades.
(https://i.ibb.co/sdymGhWr/IMG-3545.jpg) (https://ibb.co/C3h1ZqPF)
Losing one of their men as they charge in, they inflict a crushing blow to Evans' army. The brave archers hold their ground, though they are badly bloodied.
(https://i.ibb.co/4ZvCMQ2q/IMG-3547.jpg) (https://ibb.co/pvVNZmQ7)
Evans himself rushes to defend his men, but the cavalry wheel away once more, remaining irritatingly out of reach.
(https://i.ibb.co/0pr4ZzYK/IMG-3551.jpg) (https://ibb.co/JWH62Srq)
Before they could be caught by Anthony Evans himself, Firth's mounted Men at Arms crash into the enemy Artillery. A bloody melee ensues.
(https://i.ibb.co/v4vhCprX/IMG-3549.jpg) (https://ibb.co/qYFCLK4J)
Meanwhile, on the other flank, Richard Firth is confronted by Evans' Men At Arms. The archers attempt to whittle their numbers down, but only inflict a single casualty.
(https://i.ibb.co/jPRrf5bv/IMG-3552.jpg) (https://ibb.co/FLVD3Wmb)
(https://i.ibb.co/kgVXbQfY/IMG-3556.jpg) (https://ibb.co/6RcF9gx6)
Firth charges in, alongside his Attendant, though he comes off worse than his opponents, loosing his Attendant in the melee and being forced back by his fearsome adversaries.
-
Part Three – Final Moments
(https://i.ibb.co/1fb8m0NZ/IMG-3557.jpg) (https://ibb.co/gM6zRr8y)
Evans' Billmen rush along the road to offer support to the Men at Arms. They spot Firth retreating behind his archers, having fled from the Men at Arms, though chasing after him is only one of several potential options available to them.
(https://i.ibb.co/0yDxXRh9/IMG-3560.jpg) (https://ibb.co/GQxqJ4cM)
Having seen off the enemy Artillery, Firth's mounted Men at Arms wheel around, only to spot Anthony Evans himself out in the open.
(https://i.ibb.co/C3BdgRTg/IMG-3564.jpg) (https://ibb.co/YF29mHqm)
Evans bravely charges into Firth's Men at Arms, only to be enveloped by the enemy Mounted Men at Arms. He fights bravely, though his Attendant falls in the opening melee.
(https://i.ibb.co/J9MDptJ/IMG-3565.jpg) (https://ibb.co/6kfjtwC)
Firth rejoins the melee, though Evans' Men at Arms prove incredibly difficult to see off.
(https://i.ibb.co/Hj8MtBh/IMG-3567.jpg) (https://ibb.co/rVrLxFd)
Evans continues to fight bravely until he has no more to give. He yields to Firth's men who capture him, accepting his surrender willingly.
(https://i.ibb.co/v6YxdYf6/IMG-3568.jpg) (https://ibb.co/nNCs1C4N)
Firth's mounted Men at Arms give out a great cheer and ride to their master to tell him of the victory. Evans' men flee in all directions, though Firth's men are too spent to give chase for long.

Slow progress on painting as my hobby time has been mostly spent on the draft layout for my rules set. First time I’ve prepared anything for publishing but it’s a fun process so far!
Anyway here’s a hovels church that I painted recently, all done in one afternoon apart from priming! It’s a fantastic model and scales quite nicely with conflix buildings as a relatively small church / chapel.

-
Well done, the church came out excellent - and the speed is astonishing. I very much like the appearance of the cool blue-grey shingle highlights, and the windows are quite an eye catcher. Lovely work. :-*

Hopefully I will soon have chance to make the second battle report of the campaign.
I’ve been getting on with the painting but haven’t posted anything recently so here are three objective markers useful for the “Old Ned’s Farm” scenario in the rules manual

Nice objective markers

Battle Report 2 – Old Ned's Farm
After the disastrous events at Wooldale, the Evans family thought to react quickly. Henry Evans, Anthony Evans' son, thought it best to immediately gather supporters in the hope of defeating Richard Firth and releasing his father from captivity.
Richard Firth, feeling confident from his victory, contacted his brother Edward to join their forces together in order to march on the village of Beckmoor, one step closer to the Evans family Manor of Oakhurst Hall.
On the way to Beckmoor was a farm owned by the notorious “Old Ned”. The farm was known to support the Evans family, and there were rumours that it was being used to harbour Evans' men who had fled from the previous battle.
Part One – The Opening Engagement

Henry Evans with his attendant.
(https://i.ibb.co/ksBnrMZj/IMG-3792.jpg) (https://ibb.co/PvjpbtkK)
Edward Firth, brother to Richard Firth, accompanied by his two attendants.
(https://i.ibb.co/0p7GrdfG/IMG-3795.jpg) (https://ibb.co/qLSrpPRr)
The printed rules manual for 'Orrible Little Men. The armies in this battle report did not use the army archetype rules found in the rules manual as I was already keeping track of the game as well as the unfolding narrative (and taking the photos!). I used scenario 15: Old Ned's Farm for this battle.
(https://i.ibb.co/VcMyhDNF/IMG-3794.jpg) (https://ibb.co/21c2LP6z)
The starting army morale of the two forces, 6 for the Firth forces, and 4 for the Evans forces.
(https://i.ibb.co/xq0fJRWm/IMG-3789.jpg) (https://ibb.co/60x1gfzv)
The cannon under Evans' command spots the enemy forces arriving on the horizon.
(https://i.ibb.co/tpZ12kcC/IMG-3791.jpg) (https://ibb.co/HTN9P1Yg)
Old Ned wasn't best pleased to see Firth's men marching toward him on his own land. Behind him you can see Henry Evans, poised to defend his supporter.
(https://i.ibb.co/LzmXJSP0/IMG-3793.jpg) (https://ibb.co/fYfznMSX)
Some of Evans' men, a group of men at arms, positioned behind the church to defend one of the objectives while being out of sight of the enemy archers and artillery.
(https://i.ibb.co/Zpmvg4Jm/IMG-3796.jpg) (https://ibb.co/mV8dyZB8)
Though it isn't long before the enemy are upon them!
(https://i.ibb.co/HLgMhCPv/IMG-3797.jpg) (https://ibb.co/TDhnW10X)
Firth's mounted men at arms move around the other side of the church.
(https://i.ibb.co/WN2Mhr2t/IMG-3798.jpg) (https://ibb.co/vCjTFNjY)
Evans' archers loose upon their enemy.
(https://i.ibb.co/xKcqdGsQ/IMG-3800.jpg) (https://ibb.co/bjy5DL3n)
They kill all but two of the Firth men at arms! Significantly reducing their combat potency.
(https://i.ibb.co/MdJd4wF/IMG-3801.jpg) (https://ibb.co/XHGHg0c)
Now that it is safer for the enemy men at arms to hang back, allowing the billmen to advance, Evans rushes out onto the road to confront Firth's lightly-armoured infantry.
(https://i.ibb.co/NdrmcGJc/IMG-3803.jpg) (https://ibb.co/Q3kCyxTy)
At the same time, the archery duel begins in earnest, with both sides slowly suffering losses.
-
Part Two – The Melee
(https://i.ibb.co/wkFnMnP/IMG-3804.jpg) (https://ibb.co/G64ZcZ8)
Evans' attendant is cut down in the initial charge by the enemy billmen. Though he fights valiantly, Evans is forced back, struggling to parry the attacks coming his way.
(https://i.ibb.co/7xqh0N67/IMG-3805.jpg) (https://ibb.co/nqFpK85h)
The situation becomes desperate for Henry Evans almost immediately.
(https://i.ibb.co/WTKvS7N/IMG-3806.jpg) (https://ibb.co/HJgTmRL)
However, on the other flank, the Firth cavalry charged into Evans' men at arms, suffering two casualties out of their four men. In the panic caused by their ineffective charge, they rout from the field, ignoring Firth's shouted commands (and expletives!).
(https://i.ibb.co/JjPjTKk5/IMG-3811.jpg) (https://ibb.co/chdh91TD)
Old Ned is confronted by the Firth men at arms, he resists (as can be seen in this photo!) but they restrain him.
(https://i.ibb.co/zh4tfTpp/IMG-3812.jpg) (https://ibb.co/5WRJcgmm)
The Firth and Evans billmen fight fiercely over the fences of Old Ned's farm.
(https://i.ibb.co/1GwKwsVV/IMG-3813.jpg) (https://ibb.co/GQbkbsww)
Edward Firth seeks revenge for the routed cavalry. He charges into Evans' men at arms.
(https://i.ibb.co/QFS8mg44/IMG-3814.jpg) (https://ibb.co/8Dvz8CHH)
Making use of his brother's distraction, Richard Firth captures the objective, some of Old Ned's livestock.
(https://i.ibb.co/bM0qdWXQ/IMG-3815.jpg) (https://ibb.co/fzgB01Hq)
With a cacophonous roar, the Evans artillery rips a hole in the Firth archer formation, causing them to flee the field entirely. Firth's left flank is cleared entirely, severely reducing their force's momentum (and their army morale).
(https://i.ibb.co/Kjpf1xTK/IMG-3816.jpg) (https://ibb.co/4ZnXQRh1)
Firth and his men at arms gather together with their captured objectives.
(https://i.ibb.co/zh8pnq2L/IMG-3817.jpg) (https://ibb.co/XZy12c5d)
Edward Firth, now confident in his chance for victory, routs the Evans men at arms...
(https://i.ibb.co/YFK29hQk/IMG-3819.jpg) (https://ibb.co/G417wRp2)
… and marches to the flank of the Evans billmen!
(https://i.ibb.co/VcBFNGjF/IMG-3818.jpg) (https://ibb.co/LXpTPykT)
At this point, both sides have 2 army morale points. If either side loses a unit then they will be defeated, it all hangs in the balance!
(https://i.ibb.co/XxKVKbqF/IMG-3823.jpg) (https://ibb.co/JjGCGK9r)
The Firth billmen rout their enemy. Henry Evans looks on helplessly at the gathering enemy forces before him as his men flee the field all around him. Cursing under his breath, he flees the field, heading for Oakhurst Hall, determined to gathering his forces to rescue his father from Firth's men.
Though their victory was absolute, Firth's forces were significantly bloodied and their leaders elected to head back to Foxleigh Tower with Anthony Evans as their captive, rather than risk his escape.
