Few buildings on board, more to follow
-
Wow very nice!
-
Looking good already, that first setup seems ready for a market to spring up and get in the combatants way.
-
Simply :o :-* :D
-
That's looking really good.

Beautiful! Each one of those pieces would look great on its own, but what really adds to the overall feel of the place is the cohesion between the pieces in terms of color, painting style, design, etc.
I may have written this in a different thread at one point or another, but when I was a kid I'd imagine how great it would be to have a town or city to have games in- well, 30+ years later I've accumulated plenty of buildings (probably around 20), but it's more like a patchwork quilt than a bunch of buildings that look like they actually go together. I'm not complaining- it's still a lot of fun and I'm happy with what I've got, but there's just something extra cool about seeing pieces that really go together well like that! Keep up the good work!

Very nice setting. Can't wait to see it fully populated.
-
Nice -- the buildings can be moved around?
What drives me nuts is setting up a good looking board than finding out that either it's no good for a fight, or that all the fighting happens in one small area!
"Playtest" a game or so as you go. Town looks good enough for a game!

very nice buildings, scratchbuild?

Planning a toll bridge and a building to span the canal on the board which is for loading barges/ships with grain etc
-
Cheers all.
I hope to have a busy but useable board by the end of it, with lots of scenery/clutter(bags,barrels,carts,stalls)
My initial thoughts for the game are an 'Empire/town militia vs chaos types' using Westfalia and Eureka for the chaos and old GW/Wargames Atlantic/Frostgrave for the humans.

Beautiful stuff, McYellowbelly
-
Yes, that's not a bad start!
-
Very cool start!

I've always wanted to do a waterfront like that. It's the logistics of how to raise the buildings (and the rest of the board) above water level that gets me. I want my buildings to be individually based and usable for a variety of games... ??? ???

One thing to consider, might be PDF buildings, traditionally made with card stock, but I print them on regular paper, which I glue to 2mm thick chipboard. They require a little out-of-the-box thinking to build but they are not difficult to assemble (https://photos.app.goo.gl/6T36vW4VtDKtKLpt6). Best thing about my chipboard buildings? No painting required, other than blackening the cut edges. For edging chipboard buildings, a black, brush tipped, acrylic paint pen is your best friend.
I use MDF cut to size and shape, to base my buildings, when/if necessary: round cardboard tube Tower (https://photos.app.goo.gl/rQo77ntb4S6W9obo6); Marx toy wooden fort (https://photos.app.goo.gl/ye6iNp14ZWjnXy9L8), converted to fantasy 28mm game terrain; chipboard Siege Tower project (https://photos.app.goo.gl/mituMAsQkUF1irUs7). Cheers!

Great work on those buildings :-* :-* :-*

Work progressing on the inn, plus ambitious(for me) plans for a row of shops/houses.
Started collecting 'clutter' for the wharf and shops.
plans after are for a toll bridge and over water granary type thing

Absolutely top notch :-* Really well done. Love it :)

This is very fine work…inspiring me no end!

Absolutely lovely. Like you I've had this ambition for years to be able to put an entire town onto the table. I even have a very good mental picture of how it should look, but so far, I've never even made a start.
To see somebody actually do it is hugely inspirational, especially to such a wonderful standard :-*
