I finally got around to basing and finishing my first unit of Orcs from Wargames Atlantic. I've had my eyes on these since they were first announced.
The sprue contains heavy orc axmen, heavy orc swordsmen, orc swordsmen, orc spearmen and orc archers as well as orc wolf riders. I probably won't end up using the archers as they aren't in Warmaster, which is what I'm using these for.

This is just one sprue of them and only the infantry. I'll get to the other stuff but need to move my office first.

They were intended to be made into separate units of the various types, but Warmaster doesn't do that and so I put them into a homogenous unit of just orc melee troops. The one sprue made four stands, each unit in Warmaster is three stands so I'll get four units out of the box.
I already have a decent sized orc army, this will just give me some extra units. They are slightly easier to paint than the GW figures too, I find.
Anyway, really looking forward to the release of the Dwarfs.

I like what you have done with those, the mix of figures really gives the impression of an orc-style rag-tag mob! I’ve been wondering how finicky they are to glue onto the base, since a lot are in small groups or singles rather than full strips - did you find that a nuisance? Also, how durable are the spear and axe shafts and similar small details?
-
They look great!
-
Liking those

Thanks!
I put them down with hot glue although you could easily do it with plastic cement too. I didn't find it tricky at all. The way I did it they overlapped the base a little bit. They are six in each rank. I suppose you could do five with a little space on either side and maybe I'll do two with six on the front rank and one base with five in the front rank and the reverse in the back going forward.
The fiddly bit are fairly fragile, the swords more than the spears and axes. They are very small pieces and would be fragile in anything I suppose. Kind of like how the Warmaster high elf spears were so fragile.

These look good.
Would the bowmen work as Goblins? As they are the shooty unit in the WM lists.
Could you do some photos against the GW figures, and any other 10mm Orcs you have?
-
Oh, those look very pretty.
I'm a big fan of 10mm wargaming in general and just the day I was gonna cave and get WA's 10mm Samurai they announced their 10mm Fantasy stuff. I'm sure there's lovely things in store for us; very much looking forward to more!

I'll probably get the HYW stuff when it comes out too. I have a whole Brettonian army unpainted from 20 or so years ago that I bought to replace the Warmaster Brettonian army I painted and sold, but have never painted them. I'd imagine when the HYW plastics come out that will give me the motivation to get them painted and put on the table again.

Those look cool
How do they scale against GW, Copplestone or pendraken?
-
They match up pretty much exactly with the GW orcs. I haven't compared them to my Penndraken stuff yet.
-
Cool which version warmaster or battle of 5 rings?
Either way pendrakrn will be bigger but they should fit with Copplestone if they fit warmaster
Might grab a sprue for the individual figures
-
Looks really good. I don't currently do any 10mm (other than painting up some Civil War stuff) I could definitely be interested in a solid, reasonably priced option for 10mm fantasy gaming en masse.

For those interested a small number of comparision pics from figures I had on hand.

Perfect
I'm sold on geting sprue for the individuals
Shame the warmasters can't be separated without not of work they look cool too

Thanks for the comparison shots - they look a good size. The GW Orcs are deliberately chunky as that is the GW Orc style.
I suspect the WA Orcs are smaller than the WA Samurai - which isn't right or wrong, it just depends on your view of orcs!

Looking good,
I'm going to get a load of these for my Midgard WotR armies

certainly an interesting tidbit for sure!

I got some more done. I have the last sprue of swordsmen to paint and then everything that I'm likely to paint from the boxed set is done. I should be able to get at least four more stands out of it. So that will be 13 stands total from the set and I didn't even use any of the archers.

I'm really looking forward to the dwarfs coming out. I'll probably order three boxes of those to start, depending on the contents. Dwarf units are more expensive, pointswise, than orcs so we will see what I need. I don't have any dwarfs at all though so I'll need enough for a whole army.
I may get another box of the orcs eventually. These will add nicely to my orc armies. But I already have a bunch of orcs.
I'm hoping to get a game of Warmaster in at some point before July.

The last unit of orcs from this box is done.

Now we wait for the Dwarfs to come out.
